This was my first GPS unit that I purchased about a year ago for a decent deal. My intention was to use it for road trips -- bad idea; no street maps.
This unit was definitely intended for the hiker/boater.
To be fair, this unit definitely packs alot of cool features. The unit itself is quite large in comparison to the new GPS'es out. They did a fantastic job of making this unit rugged and waterproof. I especially liked their implementation of waterproof screw caps for the AA batteries. I would feel comfortable dropping this in the water.

I found the GPS interface to be a little overwhelming with the amount of options. It's quite customizable, but I found the use of abbreviations throughout the menus to be confusing (having to refer to the user's manual alot).

The user manual does cover the features and options fairly well, but doesn't cite good examples of how to use the GPS (like if you want to backtrack the route you just took, etc.).

While I personally don't find much use for it, I would recommend it to any hunting/fishing/hiking/boating person who has the patience to tinker and learn to use the unit.
