I love my Magellan 330X GPS. It is a great tool for traveling, especially if you can find the unit with the car adapter and mounting bracket.
The display is very easy to read and see even when it is mounted on the dash with the suction cup mounting bracket. There are different types of adapters for cigarette lighters, serial ports on computers etc.
The unit comes with MAPSEND Streets software, which is great for adding detailed information in your area. And you can add a option MAPSEND Streets & Destinations software for getting restaurants, stores, gas stations, sight seeing information etc. The unit comes with enough memory to load about a 250x400 mile area into it with details. There is a topographical map CD, I have not used that though.
Using this detailed information while traveling you will feel more secure with where you are at in the world. Using your computer you can mark your destinations and then just use the "goto" function to get there. It will draw a line on the screen to show you the route (not turn by turn, but a straight line).
I have used it while flying too, and it is certified up to 600 miles per hour. It is not certified for IFR but it a great VFR tool. It is great to come back to a computer and download the flight path, because it gives you both forward path and vertical paths.
Traveling with a large fifth-wheel camper is nicer with the unit. You can drill down on the screen and read street signs ahead of you, use the moving map to make more thought decisions when traveling in metropolitan areas.
I would highly recommend this unit for its price point and the great features that are on it!
