Nice widescreen GPS

Pros:nice touchscreen, good voice quality
Cons:not many updates avail yet.
The Bottom Line: good, solid GPS for the money
I really do like this 1412 GPS. In the past I've owned 3 other GPS units (Mio, Garmin, and HP) - so I have a good idea of what the competition is putting out there. The nicest feature of the 1412 is the touchscreen... its SO easy to select items on the screen - just a really high quality touchscreen. In addition to that the voice is loud and clear. The POI database has been great so far too - with 6 million listed and they seem to be pretty up to date and complete.
Now for the bad points.
a) Battery life is not so good.
b) Map updates (and firmware updates) don't seem to be readily avail - that is not to say they won't release them in the future, don't know. But I've had the GPS for 4 months now and there were no updates for additional fonts or screens or colors or graphics or voices... all stuff that was avail with the Garmin unit.
c) There is only one voice avail on the unit... no way to change or update.
d) Very limited data on the screen... Mio had tons of stuff you could display... Garmin has practically none. So I guess this one is right in the middle - just wish I could select more data to display.
Overall - very happy with the unit...
