usaf6988's Full Review: Magellan RoadMate 6000T Car GPS Receiver
This product has proved totally unsatisfactory. I have been using GPS since 1990 (my first units were used in aircraft for navigation purposes) The map system used by Magellan is unreliable and/or completely out of date. My unit, used in the area of my home, cannot locate an address without an error of 1.5-2 miles. However, if the unit is set to "Current Location" and saved, the unit can navigate back to a saved location with great accuracy. In the event I turn my unit "off," the memory dumps and the unit resets to factory default settings obliterating all the information laboriously entered in the "address" and "trip" locations. TECH SUPPORT: This is a joke unless you happen to be a Hindi speaker. The purported techs cannot speak recognizable English and must confer with others on any reported problem. Furthermore, they display an unpleasant attitude when faced with their inability to solve the problem. SELLER: I bought my unit from REFURB. I am now on my second unit. The first unit had problems with the screen freezing and dumping the data. Also, the touch screen would hang up on letter/number entries and it was necessary to turn the unit off and restart in order to clear the screen. I have just emailed REFURB requesting to return my present unit and upgrade to the TomTom GO 910. I should hear from this this week (March 24-28, 2008).
PURCHASE: i bought the unit from REFURB due to the price and am finding that may have been a huge mistake.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THE PRODUCT: There is really little to love since the unit has proven unreliable in directing me to entered locations.
