n2glock's Full Review: Magellan Sportrak Color Handheld GPS Receiver
This is my first GPS unit. I did alot of research before making a purchase. I found this GPS unit to have all the features that I wanted and needed. The color screen is clear and bright, and I have to admit that this was the final deciding factor. This unit is also sleek looking, compact enough to fit in my back pant pocket and light. The pre-loaded maps are minimal and I am planning on downloading more deatailed maps soon. I really like the compass and the fact that all the different screens can be customized to meet my individual needs. I have had no use for the barometer or the fish and hunt features yet. Being that I had never used a GPS before I would have to say that I was a little intimidated by it at first, but after reading the manual twice and going out and playing with the unit I am starting to get the hang of it. I have not been able to use it to its full potential yet. It seems to be very accurate even under big trees. I have gone out Geo Caching with it and it has been on the money every single time. I do not find the buttons to be hard to press and evrything is pretty much straight forward. At times I find myself using the backlight quite often and this tends to drain the battery quickly. Avoid using regular Alkaline batteries and get a good set of Lithium or rechargeables.
