Pros:Washable, glows, cute.
Cons:I wish the magic glow pen would get lost.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this for the child who likes to write on things..
My girls are at the age that they like to draw and write so I try to pick them up things that encourage this. Well while I was Christmas shopping, I saw something called the Magic Glow Doodle Bear. I wasn't sure exactly what these were since I didn't recall any of the commercials but after reading the box, I did see that you could draw all over this washable bear and I knew this was going to be liked in our house.

When Christmas morning arrived, I learned that our bears were both named Drew. They are shirtless bears with shorts and shoes, which have me believing they are boy bears since some of the others do have dresses. Our Drews are glow in the dark bears and come equipped with 2 color markers and a Magic Glow Light (UV Light) Pen. and stand about 13 inches tall.

Both my girls ripped into their bears and started drawing away and writing away. Meanwhile my mother was trying to figure out what the magic glow light was all about. Turns out when you put that on the bear and activate it..it makes that spot glow for a few seconds. So you can actually write or draw on your bear and have it disappear without needing to wash it. The entire bear also glows in the dark, just hold it up to the light for about 10 seconds and it will glow in a dark room.
The instructions that came with this recommend washing the bear within 48 hours of doodling but us being the rebels that we are waited about 5 days before wrapping them in a pillowcase and tossing them in the machine. After a normal wash, we were very pleased to see that the bears came out spotless. We then let them air dry and they looked good as new.
It has been over a week and the girls don't play with their bears as much but they do go for broke with the markers. I have learned to hate the magic glow pens because they no longer use them on their bears but like to point them at each other or us and they are so irritating.
I did go to the manufacturer website to read up on replacement markers and I have to say that they do have some misleading information. Their site states each bear comes with 3 markers but you actually only get 2 and they also state there is a bag for the markers, which we didn't get either. And then another thing that was wrong was on the actual instructions, it stated that "Drew" has a hat and he doesn't. So now I am debating about calling them to find out if these were actually supposed to be included or was there a misprint on their side.
All in all I would recommend these bears, they are cute and the girls do like them but they just don't beat out a new puppy.
As for replacement makers, they state that just about any washable marker can be used on the Magic Glow Doodle Bear which is nice to know.
These are recommended for ages 3-6 years of age.
