Pros: Counting, Shapes, Songs
Cons: Noisy & Bright
One of the educational inspirations within my daycare/preschool is the use of themes. Each month I select a thematic unit of study to guide the lessons shared, books read, adventures undertaken, and overall fun booster for learning extravaganza. Such being the case, it is my belief that all ages will benefit, including the infants. During Space Adventures one of the frequented toys for the youngest attendees is the V-Tech Magic Lights. V-Tech is known for the high-quality electronic toys offered, and that element continues with this fine toy.
V-Tech Magic Lights
Recommended for Children 6 months through 18 months old.
Requires 2 AA Batteries.
7 buttons assist with teaching
7 melodies available
2 astronaut button that depress to emit phrases
Children 6 months through approximately 3 years of age enjoy this charming, electronic toy. For academic stimulation this toy will be best for the child 6 months through 2 years of age, beyond that point it is merely a fun play toy. The V-Tech Magic Lights is circular shape, and offers multiple buttons for depressing. An important mention is the volume control, and the on/off switch.
Shaped like a space ship, the V-Tech Magic Lights is ready to lift your child to learning fun. The top of this unit has 7 buttons.
Red Triangle with the Number 1
Red Square with the Number 2
Red Circle with the Number 3
These buttons depress to assist your young child with learning basic counting and simple shapes. Depending on which mode chosen, your child will hear melodies or receive learning prompts. The learning mode allows your child to hear a description of each button when pressed. Switched to melody mode, your child will hear seven tunes. Including Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star and Pop Goes the Weasel.
In addition to the number/shape panel, there are two adorable astronaut figurines that emit phrases such as, ?3,2,1 Blast Off? ? ?Let?s Fly? ? and other applicable phrases. These cuties add to the playtime splendor, and promote creative sentence structures from the young audience. Two levers on the surface allow for other sound effects, and activate the lights.
Children are fascinated by the lights and sounds that are offered from the V-Tech Magic Lights toy. Because of the multiplicity of noise emitted and the flashing lights, some children with auditory processing disorders might find this toy is too stimulating.
I am impressed with the durability of this gizmo. During the period of time it has been in our home, it has been dropped, stomped on, thrown, and hit. It continues to work, and the children keep coming back for more playtime fun. Please understand this is an infant/toddler toy, and not meant to provide academic stimulation for a child preschool age or older.
V-Tech is a product line you can trust. We were introduced to this toy manufacturer 11 years ago. Items purchased when my oldest was an infant continue to persevere, and receive daily attention. I highly recommend the V-Tech Magic Lights, and feel you will see the beneficial attributes offered to children who play with it.
The children within my daycare adore the V-Tech Magic Lights, and it evokes imaginary play. I keep our toy clean with a damp cloth that has a mild bleach solution for sanitation purpose. This toy continues to provide learning fun after multiple play sessions, some mild abuse, and many cleanings.
