Hi, Bettega,
It's nice to see you back at Epinions and I'm sure Francesco has been keeping you very busy. Indeed, you need a vacation!!
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

This sounds like my type of place... (Reply to this comment)

my favorite hotels tend to be those where modern decor is transplanted into an old building with good "bones." They tend to have character instead of being just another blah upscale chain hotel.
If I ever make it to Houston, I'll check it out! :)

So Nice (Reply to this comment)

Gosh, I wish I could write concise reviews like that. I know Eps is not a travel agency but I love how you're so brief and yet detailed. It makes for a very easy read.
Kemah in 1908? That's all there was left. I saw the pics of the hurricane when I visited Galveston Island back in 1995... wow. I didn't recognize it.
Yes, elevator speed is important. I've been in places where it was slow and became annoying for me. I was 17, lived on an 18 story dorm and was on a crew team at the time, on the 18 floor mind you! So I learned to run up the stairs and I was so fit that after running up 18 floors worth 3 steps at a time, I wasn't even winded!
It's great to be back here at Eps, gotta still find time to work with the software, but I am so tired. Been 2 years since my last vacation, but going to Italy for 6 weeks this year. I will have a lot to write about when I get back!
Ciao

Isn't that always nice though. You think, whatever I'll setlle for just a night I can deal with it but then it really flips your expectations! Haha always nice to have happen.

Hi Smorgy,
Thanks for dropping in and leaving a comment!
Yes, I'm all for preserving historical buildings and keeping our past alive! Although I understand sometimes it costs more $$ to refurbish one of these buildings than to level it and build a new one.
Houston has done a great job at preserving our historical buildings, and it's a joy to drive in on a Sunday (no traffic) and leisurely admire the many buildings (old and new).
Cheers,
Regina

Hi Barbara,
Yes, this hotel turned out to be a winner in my book.
Heh, I was in a packed elevator with my friends and other runners and they all looked at me funny when I said: "I'm going to check out the fitness facility"... someone said "why, aren't you running tomorrow morning?"....
Anyway, thank you for your comment and your rating!!
Cheers,
Regina
Anyway,

Hi, Ace...
Thanks for dropping in!
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. As I had nothing to do with the selection of this hotel, I was skeptical about it and figured, well, it's just for "one night"!
The hotel exceeded my expectations!
Cheers,
Regina

This place sure sounds splendid, Regina!
We had one kind of like it (not the same brand, but they literally knocked down the interior of a historical building and then rebuilt it into a very modern hotel with the old exterior intact) in Downtown San Diego that actually offers guided tour of the thing! One of these days I'll try reviewing hotels, but I'm having too much of a good time reading now.
Thanks for another great review, matie!
Cheerio,

actually been to (but not stayed at) this hotel. My sister lives in Fort Worth and we travelled around and almost stayed here on a touring visit of Texas while we were down there. Great review! :)
