Sanford/Sharpie Major Accent Highlighters ---- Bright Orange Ink for your Highlighting needs!

Pros:nice bright color, easy to use and apply, no odor, quick dry ink

Cons:none

The Bottom Line: A great option in the world of highlighters, this bright orange choice has everything going for it, and no negative aspects to be seen!

I think I may have found a new line of highlighters that is both enjoyable to use, and gives you the exemplary results you expect to get when you pay for these “pens.” There is a reason that Sharpie bought out the Sanford Office Supply Company, and that was to improve upon a great product line. These Major Accent Highlighters are one of those products, and more specifically, I have been enjoying using their thick version of the Orange Ink highlighters.

These orange highlighters are sold in a box of 12, though I am sure you can probably find them selling by the singles as well. They come in a very similar shape to other highlighters on the market, with the cap that snaps into the back of the highlighter, and presented in a bright orange hue. As with most highlighters, the color of the barrel matches the color of the ink, and in this case, it is a bright orange that you could probably see from across the parking lot. They aren’t quite as long as a pen, but the wide barrel makes it really easy to hold on to and maneuver while in use. There are times when I like to use my BIC Brite-Liner for those fine tuned sessions, but other times when I need to use one of these for extensive jobs.

These highlighters come with the nice chisel tip, which means that the tip of the pen is about a quarter of an inch long, but tilted at about a 45 degree angle. The reason for this, is so that you have two different types of writing styles that you can use. First you can use broad strokes with the highlighter if you tilt it one way and take advantage of the full tip. The second one, is if you are looking for a fine (and thin) line, you can tilt the pen so that just the point of the tip is hitting the paper. This gives the highlighter an ability to both highlight passages, and then write notes if you want to go that route. The tip is dense and this gives it a little extra life, so if you accidentally leave the cap off, you will still be able to save it and use it at a later time. There are many highlighters out there that would die immediately if this were the case, but these Accent Highlighters tend to survive no matter what you put them through.

The ink in this specific color (the orange) is very bright on the page, and seems to stand out no matter what the density of your black ink may be. I have used it to highlight colors other than black as well, and each time the text was easily readable through the orange highlight. The ink is quick drying, so you don’t have to worry about smudging passages or words that you have highlighted, making it an ideal choice for someone that needs to do a lot of highlighting within texts. In fact, it works so well, that once I have put the ink on the paper, I am unable to smear it with my hand. I think that makes this highlighter line the perfect choice for left-handed writers as well, because you won’t end up with a mess all over your hands. The ink is also non-toxic, so if you do accidentally write on yourself you can wash it off without much regard to any consequences.

I really have nothing but good things to say about these bright orange highlighters, and it has become one of my “pens” of choice at work. They sell them in several other colors including fluorescent pink, green, and blue, all of which are odorless as well. One dozen of these bad-boys costs $6.99 before tax down the street at Staple’s, and they are a nice bargain if you happen to catch a sale. If you are in the market for highlighters that aren’t going to let you down, these are the perfect product for either the home or office.
