Pros: Smooth, delicious, will make a bourbon lover of you!
Cons: While a first cousin, Maker’s Mark is definitely not your grannie's corn squeezins.
The Bottom Line: If you are one who thinks Bourbon too strong tasting for your palate, Maker's Mark will be a pleasant surprise. Smooth enough to drink straight. Highly recommended.

Makers Mark® (standard red seal)
Only the best! If you are one who thinks bourbon is too peppery for your palate (I was once one) you owe it to yourself to try some real sippin whiskey Makers Mark®.
I first tried Makers Mark bourbon in the birthplace of all good bourbons: Kentucky - Louisville to be exact. Louisville, by the way, is the home of the Louisville Slugger of baseball fame and one of the sights to see is the huge Hillerich & Bradsby bat adorning the side of the factory.
When you go to Louisville, they give you a tumbler of bourbon rather than water when you sit down at a restaurant... Seriously, bourbon whiskey is so prevalent that you find yourself literally embarrassed by the variety of bourbon available to try. I had never before seen bars dedicated solely to the enjoyment of bourbon, but in Louisville they have them. Sort of a whiskey lovers heaven, if you will.
Makers Mark has all of the punch of distilled spirits with none of the biting roughness associated with traditional Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which you may be familiar with.
This may be because Makers Mark is distilled using wheat, rather than the traditional rye grain used by other bourbon distillers. Corn and barley, traditional ingredients, are also part of the recipe. Limestone spring water is the final ingredient in the mix, and it may well be the "secret". Makers Mark has their own private 10-acre limestone spring fed lake.
Twice distilled in copper stills, the new bourbon is aged for six years in white oak barrels, which imparts vanilla and caramel flavors, as well as a rich, red color from the charred surface inside.
During the aging process, the bourbon is repeatedly tasted and the barrels rotated to insure uniform quality. To be a taster is a job such as one can only dream of!
When the bourbon is fully ready, it is bottled and sealed with the distinctive red wax seal that is applied by hand.
You, the consumer, will want to open that seal at your earliest opportunity and pour a nice glass of Makers Mark
Enjoy it over ice, at room temperature, straight, or with water, whatever suits your fancy. Although many like to make mixed drinks, Makers Mark® really lends itself to straight sipping, just like a fine cognac. You can then truly appreciate the craftsmanship and care that goes into this fine, fine bourbon. Also available in black and gold varieties, try a bottle today!
