The Bottom Line: I would recommend this saw to anyone who needs precision and smooth cutting. Very high quality.
When I set out to get a new miter saw I was originally thinking I'd try a 12" so I could cut tall base vertically. I've always used 8 1/2" and 10" for my carpentry business, so I borrowed another guys 12" for a couple of jobs. This is what I found. With any 12" blade there is going to be a certain amount of blade deflection. This is especially noticeable when making a fine shave off the piece. The blade is big enough it wants to shoot off to the side. So for the precise job of trim carpentry I chose the 10" Makita for two reasons. Most trim guys I know use this saw, and I read all the good reviews it got on this site. After having used this saw for a couple of houses I can tell you the reviews were right on the money. The power and torque that's created from driving the blade off a gear is amazing. It has a rock solid feel, the saw doesn't even twitch when the blade starts up(Soft start). After having used almost every other saw out there, I can honestly say this is the smoothest, most precise, quietest, and best built saw on the market today.
