Great Review; Here is Further Detail (Reply to this comment)

I concur with GuisBuild, and would like to add a detail or two:
First of all, a warning about safety; these handheld planers are DANGEROUS! Please, if you are contemplating buying one, and have not used a similar machine: the blades are exposed on the bottom surface, and when the machine is on, they are spinning at high speed. The user needs to keep his hands away from these blades. That includes trying to hold the workpiece steady with your other hand, while you plane the edge, for example, a wood door or a shelf. I can't make this statement strong enough. You can easily get injured forgetting how open the blades are, and how close they are to your hands, since the machine is nicely balanced.
On the matter of the little knob at the front: It's the knob that holds the guide fence in place, so when you are not using it, it needs to be tightened, so it does not vibrate loose.
Overall, I would say this is a very handy machine if you have to plane the edges of wood doors, etc., and if you are careful to observe the previous safety warnings, it can save you alot of time, and make your woodworking look great.
