If you are like me and just love looking at and using new tools then you will love this one from Makita. It is not new to them but it is new to me. Ever since my home had gotten flooded out last year I have been slowly replacing all of my tools as they go out because of being submerged under water for over a week. I might be lucky if I get one use out of the old tools. When this one finally gave out, I gave it a lot of consideration on which one to buy, because this is probably going to be the last one that I ever have to buy and it was not going to be very cheap. You can usually find these types of tools at your local home improvement store. I found mine at Home Depot for just under $200 after I had purchased some extra accessories. I did not purchase any extra protection because these usually never go out unless in a flood and in that case they will not cover it any way.

This tool has the trade mark bluish green color to it and weighs a little less than ten pounds with the accessory attachment on it. It has a variable speed that starts out at 600 rpm. under no load conditions and will go all the way up to 3000 rpm. while in use and this is the max. and it is pre-set by the mfg. This has an electronic speed control that will help you maintain a constant speed while you are working. This also has a three prong plug to help it from being over taken by that ever popular static electricity mongrel. On the handle there is a nice locking mechanism that helps when you have a lot of polishing or sanding or grinding to do. This will accommodate a 7” disc for either polishing or sanding. The length is 18 ½” and it does not feel like it weighs ten pounds. Under a no load speed, this will only use 10 amps of electricity to operate. This tool is very good at polishing at slow speeds but as usual I have to get the job done in a hurry so I prefer to use the high speed and get it done a lot faster. This also comes with a very nice over the top handle to make sure that this will not get away from you while you are using it. There is a very durable and nice duffle type 21” carrying bag to make this more mobile for you.
I have been using these types of tools for over thirty years and after you do that, you come in contact with all different types of grinders. You will positively notice a difference between a well made one and a cheap imitation. This is one of the most dependable ones that I have had had the honor of using. I started using this brand in the job sites and they can definitely take a beating. I have seen them thrown into the bottom of tool boxes, dropped off of scaffoldings and just keep working. These are as tough as they com and as for ease of use, all you have to do is put the attachment on and plug it in and away you go. It is that simple. There are no settings to deal with, just squeeze the trigger and apply a little bit of pressure to the tool and it does all the work.
I have used this on my car for polishing and on hardwood floors for any repairs that I would need to make. You can clean and polish your floor or if you need to do any body work this can do it also. The circular motion that this does, will allow the tool to walk across the surface all by itself and then if you lift up on the trigger handle it will go one way and if you push down it will walk the other way. It is very easy to get used to the ease that this is to operate this. There is a lot less fatigue felt in your hands and wrist after you get done using this, than if you use a far less superior model. This also is designed with a lot of way to hold this tool for pressure and control.
This comes with a one year limited warranty, but you will probably not have to ever think about using it.
This is one of the better polishers on the market today. For the money you get what you pay for. You get a far superior tool than you can find any where. I can highly recommend this for all of those stay at home handy men out there. Yes you can get a cheaper model but you will not get a better one than this.
