| saddy's Full Review: Malem Enuresis Alarm - 8 Tone |
My daughter, at 4 and a half, had finally concurred her daytime wetting problem. We then tried to concur night time bedwetting. However, even after limiting her fluid intake, taking her to the bathroom an hour after she fell asleep, and even waking her 2 hours later again, she almost always wet the bed.
When using the alarm, I bought several waterproof large pads, placed one on the top of her sheets, and simply replaced it when wet for easy cleanup. I also used throw covers, being they are small and easy to wash, because she often wet her cover as well as the pad over her sheet. I also hooked up her baby monitor so I could hear when the alarm went off or heard her cry for me because her bladder was full. Being so young, she never did figure out on her own how to silence the alarm because she wet or how to disconnect/reconnect the alarm because she had a full bladder and needed to use the potty.
The first several days using this alarm, she still wet at night and was very upset by the alarm. A couple of times she remained upset for about 15 minutes. As the company suggested, I made a very sleepy little girl put her feet on the floor before turning off the alarm and then made her (with much guidance from me) walk to the bathroom. I also reminded her every night at bedtime to stop wetting when she heard the alarm.
After about 2 weeks, she would sometimes at least stop wetting when the alarm went off and wasn't that upset when it did go off. After about 3 weeks she started having some nights when she would barely wet or not at all, but instead wake us because she had a full bladder(in a frantic) and we would disconnect the alarm and take her to the bathroom. She also seemed more awake when she did awaken in the middle of the night. However, she still had accidents some nights.
After about a month she seemed cured, but after 6 days of dry nights, I removed the alarm only to have her relapse. After using the alarm again, it took about 1 week for her to have completely dry nights where she awoke again when she needed to go to the bathroom. I am now in the process of using the alarm for the suggested 2 weeks of dry nights before removing it, but she's had completely dry nights again for 1 week. I try to limit her fluid intake at night, but she sometimes does drink before bedtime and is still successful. I'm very happy with the results. If she relapses, I'll simply use the alarm again to remind her to wake when she needs to go to the bathroom.
