Check In

I was quite surprised at it was very fast. I arrived 2.5 hours before my flight and there was no one on line. The agent was neither friendly nor unfriendly. She was very strict about the Carry On bag weight limit of 10kgs and made me check my bag because it was a half a kilo over which I thought she could of overlooked considering I was just traveling with this carryon and no check bag.

Budapest Airport

It is a Medium size airport with the usual shops and fast food restaurants. I did do any shopping but, I did have a sandwich and soft drink, which came out to 5.50 euros, which I thought, was cheap for an European airport. Security lines were long, but went fast. The agents were efficient and friendly. The boarding area though was quite crowded with passengers and the area assigned for this Malev Airlines flight was quite small and not all the flight passengers could fit on it. I actually had to walk 4 gates over to find an empty seat

The Flight

We departed about 20 minutes late but this was due to some rain and once it calmed down we took off.

The aircraft was clean. I found the seats to be quite small. Smaller than usual with airlines. The flight attendants were friendly and helpful to any questions. Food and drinks were sold as usual. I had a coke for 1 euro. No movies or shows were shown on this flight. Which made the 2.5-hour flight a bit long. We arrived at Madrid airport on time.

Airline agents met the flight and were there to answer any questions one might have about flight connections.

I experienced something I had never experienced before, we didn’t have to walk to Passport control agents were waiting there to check passengers. One by one they checked us. They barely glanced at our passports and did not stamp them. I don’t know if this was due to the fact we arrived from Budapest or a special circumstance. The walk to Baggage claim was quite long. We walked about 15-20 minutes to reach it. Once we got to the carrousel we had to wait another 35 minutes for our bags to appear. I was quite disappointed as I was in a rush and was running late. No Baggage agents were around to answer any questions.
