| chances_mom's Full Review: Malibu 2000 Sunsetter |
We recently purchased our brand new Malibu Sunsetter in Houston, Texas. We have now owned it about 3 months and have used it twice a week, at least, since we have owned it! I can not tell you how much fun our family and friends have gotten out of this quality boat.
We use our boat primarily on about a 100 acre private lake outside of Houston. The lake has about 30 members, so there is a wide range of lake conditions occurring. At times the water is calm and beautiful and the boat and skiing are incredible. But, at other times, the lake is full of boats and skiiers, and the waters tend to get extremely rough. The boat does an incredible job on smooth water and a surprisingly excellent job on rough water. It glides easily over waves and wakes. No rough, hard bounces and no people cringing. It takes to the water beautifully!
The amount of people it holds varies from about 9 comfortable adults to any number of children and adults combined. We tend to have more children than adults, so they fit very easily into the small areas, such as the open bow. Like I mentioned before, we have a large group of friends that can enjoy the boat also because it is so roomy, no one has to wait on shore.
This boat has also exceeded all skiing expectations we had for it! We are skiiers, not knee boarders or wake boarders, so my experience with that is limited. The skiing behind this boat is awesome. It quickly pulls up and out of the water even our heaviest men! It is very easy to maintain a certain speed and the wake behind the boat is the perfect size.
Driving the boat is so easy, any novice can succeed on this boat. Ladies will not be scared to try. I easily learned and felt comfortable in minutes.
The only problems we have encountered with the boat so far is our blower motor went out almost immediately. It was easily fixed by my husband and didn't cost anything so that was no big deal. The only other gripe we have is with where the radio/CD player is situated. It is in a compartment right under the drivers right arm. It is under a flap so it is well protected from water, but since it is under the flap the remote control is useless. It is also awkward to flip up and change stations and volume easily.
Other than those few things, we have absolutely loved our new boat. It has created many hours of quality family bonding time for us!! WE would not trade it for anything else. I highly recommend this boat to families who love to ski!!!!!
