The Mantis tiller has been a got-to tool around my house. The tiller is small enough to make it easy for my wife to use in her flowerbeds and yet tough enough to dig holes for shrub planting. When you have a tool that proves it worth, you tend to open up to the possible purchase of accessories to enhance the user experience.

Fortunately, I was further encouraged to buy additional accessories on account my positive experience with the Mantis Edger attachment which was included with the initial purchase of the Mantis tiller. The Mantis is a two-tine tiller with quick release via shaft and pin attachment system. Remove both tilling tines and replace them with, say an edger attachment and free wheel and you are ready to edge sidewalks and flower beds easily. It does all that very well but the one thing it just can't do is stand up straight on its own. No, you have to either lean the unit against something or in the absence of such an object you have to lay it on the ground, which can create vapor lock which can make re-starting the engine difficult.

The Mantis Kickstand is a $24.00 heavy duty steel accessory that is absolutely necessary for any user; think bicycle stand here. The concept is exactly the same. Installed easily on the lower handle uprights, you can kick it up onto the handle while operating your Mantis, or kick it down when the unit is not in use. The flatten U shape is wide enough to keep the Mantis upright in a soft flower bed or garden as well as your sidewalk or driveway while edging. A little lithium grease from time to time keeps the mechanism working smoothly every time.

You really can't argue with the viability of the Mantis Kickstand attachment; it's easy to install, use and maintain, the fact that is works so well is the factor that makes it such a great buy for under $25.00.
