Pros: Clean & powerful sound, universal remote w/ LCD, great customer service
Cons: only 5.1 (could be good or bad, depending on situation), no backlighting on remote
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a receiver that will drive your speakers, whether big or small, with clarity and power, the sr7200 is for you.

| dickorydoo's Full Review: Marantz SR-7200 Receiver |
I've had this receiver for four years now and it's still going strong. It definitely lives up to the Marantz reputation. The sound is clean yet powerful. There are lots of options for hooking up other components and monitors. The surround signal is automatically decoded. The remote is able to do alot and not very hard to master. It took the place of all of my other remotes and my wife even learned how to use it with little fuss. It would be nice if the remote had backlighting on the LCD display, though. The only drawbacks to the receiver are that it is only 5.1 and doesn't have Dolby prologic 2 decoding. (prologic 2 processes any stereo signal to be 5.1). I purchased mine right before the onslaught of 6.1 & 7.1 systems. To tell the truth, though, the 5.1 works better for my current room, as I have a couch directly against the back wall. This makes it exceedingly difficult to place the 6th surround speaker. I had one glitch in the system after about 2.5 years, but it was still under Marantz's 3 year warranty (very generous). I simply called them and they gave me the info for the nearest service center. It was fixed in less than a week. Great customer service and great sound.
