Pros: It's a Marantz, the Video up scaling and the vast array of audio modes.
Cons: Nothing yet, but still in the honey moon period.

I recently was forced to upgrade from my Marantz SR6400, when I moved the shipping company smashed my receiver. So after looking at the new lineup I settled on the SR8001. I ordered it and eagerly anticipated it arrival. In the mean time I decided to upgrade my speakers as well. The SR8001 arrived and as I was unpacking it I was struck with it's modern design. I got it setup and turned it on I was amazed with the sound, first i tried some of my favorite CD's and it was so crisp. Then I though how does this video upgrading work, it says it will translate standard signals to 480P and it does. My standard not hi-def satillite receiver now looks like watching a DVD. The I put on the X-MEN 2 movie, the fight scenes were spectacular. Overall this is a very powerful and very well featured receiver worth every penny.
