WHY DID I BUY THE MARPAC SLEEPMATE 980A?
When we bought our condo in 2006, the real estate sales person told us that our condo was built with good quality insulation and she told us that we wouldn't be able to hear noise or music from the other neighbors' unit. The sales person lied! There is no insulation inside the interior wall of our condo! Basically, we can hear it very clearly when our neighbors play their loud music.
Well, the problem began when two our neighbors started to play loud music at night, it was very hard to sleep because one of them would play video games until 2 to 3 am in the morning in his bed room which is next to my bed room area. I filed a complaint and the problem started to get better.
Then our downstair neighbor started to play loud music with high bass day and night! I told her nicely to stop and she keeps doing it over and over again. I filed a complaint to the association and they sent her a letter that said that she can't play loud music after 10 pm. I am not sure if our neighbor is retarded or stupid, but she keeps breaking the rules.
I started to find a solution for our noise problem and I went on Ebay.com and found the Marpac Sleepmate 9080A Noise Blocker for $49.95
WHAT DO I LIKE ABOUT THE MARPAC SLEEPMATE 980A?
1. It creates white noise sound that masks other noises that come from outside our condo unit
The Marpac Sleepmate 980A is basically a white noise maker. The white noise sound will mask other sounds from outside our condo unit which is great. Even though can stil hear the bass from our downstair neighbor unit, but it wasn't as bad as it was before, the Marpac Sleepmate unit noise really reduces the amount of noise that comes with our neighbors' unit. It also masks rap music bass from cars that pass by our condo unit.
I own 2 Marpac SleepMate devices, I placed one in the living room and one in our bedroom. The result is amazing, I can't hardly hear the loud music anymore in my bedroom and now I can sleep in peace. It is a lot better than putting ear plugs.
2. It has white noise level sound control
You can control the loudness of the white noise level. If my neighbor plays her music too loud, I just cranked the Marpac Sleepmate to the max and it will totally mask her loud music noise which has reduced our stress level quite significantly.
3. It uses very low electricity power.
I run the Marpac Sleepmate 24 hours/7 days a week and it doesn't really affect our electricity bill.
4. It has reduced the amount of our stress from loud noise.
I am so thankful that we own two Marpac Sleepmate noise blocker machines. It has reduced the amount of stress in our life, we don't have to fuss anymore about our neighbors being loud. It has increased the quality of our sleeping time!
5. The size is compact and it is easy to use.
The size of Marpac SleepMate unit is compact and it easily fits anywhere and it doesn't look ugly. The unit is very easy to use, you just have to press the power button to turn it on or off.
WHAT IS IT THAT I DON'T LIKE ABOUT THE MARPAC SLEEPMATE?
I think, the price is too high! I paid $49.95 each for the machine on Ebay. Thank goodness, the seller gave free USPS Priority shipping for the unit.
It doesn't really mask the loud noise completely, you can steal hear it a little bit. It doesn't cover stomping noise from upstairs unit. I can hear my upstairs neighbor doing jump rope at night from time to time, but thankfully my upstairs neighbor doesn't play loud rap music.
WILL I RECOMMEND THE MARPACK SLEEPMATE?
If you have been losing sleep because of your loud neighbors, I really recommend you to buy one of these machines because it really works! I placed one of our Marpac SleepMate machines on top of the headboard of our bed. It really helps me sleep at night because I don't hear the loud music anymore.
