What a bargain! (Reply to this comment)

I paid $200/night at the Kristal, which was fair at the time (August 2001). I've heard from someone who went last month that prices are very competitive, since the 9/11 tragedy. P.V. is a great Mexico destination... I recommend the Blue Shrimp restaurant (downtown) and the blue margaritas. My best memories of P.V. That, and Bogart's Restaurant near the Kristal Resort. Great review.

We were fortunate (Reply to this comment)
by Penguinlady
We were in PV in March '01 and were fortunate to be able to stay with a bazillionaire college friend of my husband, who has a spectacular house right on the beach next to the Velas Vallarta. Because the beach houses were built as part of the Velas complex, they have full use of all the Velas amenities, and we really loved the pool and landscaping (although their house has its own infinity pool - poverty is a terrible thing!)
We went to dinner at the Marina and enjoyed walking around, both there and on the beach. I can't agree about the beach, though; we really enjoyed it. Did we miss something?

. . . unlikely to take me south of the border any time soon.
But thanks for the great posting, Mark.

I would go back to. I rarely, other than Las Vegas go anywhere twice but I loved it there. Thanks for the recommendation. jo
