Pros: Very centrally located on the island. It is easy to go North or South.
Cons: It is not as cushy as some resorts.
The Bottom Line: I give it an excellent because of price/location compared to other hotels on island. Otherwise, it is average. I would recommend it for couples or families.

| noellbaba's Full Review: Marriott Kauai Resort/Beach Club |
My husband and I stayed in the Kauai Marriott in the Spring of 1999. Overall, the experience was fantastic. The hotel beach itself is not the best on the island, but the hotel is centrally located to some really great snorkel spots. The island of Kauai is not very large and has one highway running around 2/3 of the island. There are attractions in the North such as the State Park which is gorgeous. (Make sure you hike up the trail a little ways for an awesome view) There are also attractions in the South such as great snorkeling. This hotel is central to both, so while you are not right next to anything, you have very convenient access to everything. It was also conveniently located to a discount store for those things you might have forgotten. No need to pack tons of extra stuff. You can just pick it up there.
The food was good as I recall, but we were more focused on the island than the hotel.
The rooms were not luxurious by any stretch of the imagination. I found that the rates were not exorbitant either. I think you do get good value for your money. They were quite standard hotel rooms. The hotel is not a new hotel. The grounds are beautiful, and many rooms overlook the beach or the pool area. There is a nice gift shop, and a shuttle service to the airport. The rooms were clean and well kept, just not new or luxurious.
We had a billing mixup, and the hotel was quite helpful in taking care of that. We lived overseas at the time, and we were able to resolve the problem primarily via email.
We would stay at the hotel again sometime if the opportunity presented itself. I am sure it would have been a great family-friendly hotel for my children had they been along. The pool was very nice.
They offered several room packages that combined with rental cars. I would recommend one of these as you will not see what you need to see by staying at the hotel. You MUST get a car to drive around the island. The great thing about this hotel is that you can drive in either direction without it taking too long to get anywhere.
On a different note, when you arrive in Honolulu, you can get a much less expensive ticket to island hop from the automatic bank teller machines than you would get from the airline. At least this was the case in 1999. No telling what 9/11 has changed. Regardless, this hotel is close enough to the airport to hop around a bit.
The room price is misleading due to the package rate with rental car and breakfast we received. Please disregard and check current rates/packages.
