Pros: Very convenient, very good amenities and pleasant surroundings.
Cons: Honestly, not many
The Bottom Line: As far as airport hotels go, the Marriott Philadelphia Airport has to be right there with the best of them.

| achflkeys's Full Review: Marriott Philadelphia Airport |
I had the pleasure of staying at the Marriott at the Philadelphia Airport the day after my wedding, which was also the day before my wife and I left for our honeymoon. One thing to keep in mind is we were staying there September 16, 2001, only 5 days after the attacks. This is significant because I'm sure that had a lot to do with how nice everyone was to us and the overwhelming sense of gratitude we were met with for traveling during such a precarious time. Now, I'm not being skeptical, and I usually have faith in the travel industry and am more often times than not treated well while traveling. It's just that during this particular stay, it was obvious the hotel staff was being more pleasant and accommodating than normal. Okay, enough of my disclaimer. Now on to the review. The only negative part of our short stay happened as soon as we arrived. Since we were going away for 10 days, and my wife is not known for packing light, we had a large amount of luggage. We were never greeted at the front door by a bellman to help us get our bags inside and to the front desk. That is really the only drawback of our stay here. The lobby of the hotel is quite modern looking. After walking through the main entrance, there is a giftshop to your left and the hotel's bar/restaurant to your left. Reception is just around the corner to your left. We checked in with no problem and in a manner of seconds. We did get help with our bags then by the head bellman who was extremely nice and wished us well on our trip. We had booked a one-night, honeymoon package which included a bottle of champagne and a room on the Concierge Level. When we got up to our room, there was no bottle of champagne. Calling to the front desk got us a warm apology and a bottle sent up immediately. The room itself was rather plain, but very neat and clean with a nice desk and computer workstation. We had a king bed that was so comfortable and boy were we tired after getting zero sleep for the previous 3 days as well as just getting married the day prior and entertaining scores of family members. If we didn't have to be up before 5:00 AM the next morning to check in for our flight, we might have remained in that bed for 3 days! We had a wonderful view of the airfield, yet were spared the noise of departing and arriving planes. We went down the the bar to share send-off drinks with my parents who were flying back to Florida that night. The bar/restaurant here is very nice. We sat at a table by the bar and enjoyed fantastic service by the cocktail waitress. When it was time for my parents to head to their gate, we retired to our room and ordered room service. It was delivered promptly and was excellent. And, believe it or not, the cost was not a "jaw-dropper". With everything going on with air-travel at the time, we were not even sure our flight was going to depart at all the next morning. This is where it was nice to have a special channel on the TV that was the actual arrival/departure display from the airport. When we went to bed, our flight was shown as scheduled to depart on time at 8:00 the next morning. After receiving our wake-up call at 4:45, we checked the channel again, and it was still supposed to be on time. Here is where we did the smart thing. We showered (the bathroom was very nice with plenty of room and a great tub with immediate hot water) and got dressed, packed and took our bags out of the hotel and into the airport without checking out. We heeded the warning to check in 2 hours ahead of time for our flight. Sure enough, at 5:30 in the morning, the ticket counter had a long line. But, it moved fast and in 15 minutes, we were back at the Marriott on the Concierge level enjoying out complimentary continental breakfast. It was nothing elaborate but it was excellent and well attended. A variety of morning newspapers were available and plenty of televisions were tuned to the morning news programs. When we were finished, we went back to our room to make sure we didn't forget anything and checked out through the TV. Very convenient. The Marriott is connected to the airport via an indoor "walk-bridge" which is perfect. There is also a health-club, which we did not have time to check out. All the common areas are spotless and just overall comfortable. There are several meeting and ball rooms adjacent to the reception and lobby area. A plush-carpet lined staircase takes you from the lobby up to the level where the bridge to the airport is. All in all, the Marriott is nothing short of a top-notch airport hotel. Friendly staff, comfortable surroundings, and extreme convenience for the air traveler sums everything up pretty well. I have not been back since, but I hope the warm reception we were afforded immediately following September 11 would be repeated if we were to return now that we're 5 months removed.
