Pros: This is THE amp for rock-n-roll...MEAN!
Cons: heavy and cumbersome. typical tube hum
The Bottom Line: These amps are dependable and their tone will cut through any P.A. mix. They make ridicule of other amps! Not for the faint hearted!

| lost222_2000's Full Review: Marshall Stack |
I bought my Marshall stack (JCM 800 50W Lead) back in '89. Remember, even 50W of Marshall power will deafen you! To a young rocker, this was the ultimate amp, and over time, it has lived up to my expectations. It has channel switching capabilitites, each with its own volume and tone plus a master volume.
This amp has been through numerous bar, frat party, jams,(you name it) gigs. With plenty of beer spills which seems to improve tone-LOL, just kidding ;) and accidents like giant cabinets falling on the head on the way to a show, this amp has never failed to perform. The 1960 (model#) double stack, each loaded with 12' Celestions compliments the Marshall head with their top-notch sound and construction.
Beware future "stack" buyers! Alot of new amps have built in processing with effects, midi, this and that, blah, blah, blah. Don't be conned into all that excess stuff. When gigging, the more your amp is loaded with, the more their is to screw up. I have seen it. Keep it simple. All it takes is one hard lick and their it went. This amp is about as much as you need. Some Marshalls have even less features than mine (single channel). Anyway, if the amp head has a good sound, you don't need all that other garbage anyway. Keep the effects on the floor, not in the amp!
The only maintenance I have performed on my Marshall stack has been tube replacement. That's it. When a company's amps are still around and running over 30 years, that says it all.
When you are ready to get serious and start gigging, get a Marshall stack. There is a reason so many people have used them through the years.
