Lately I have really taken a liking to Martha Stewarts product line that is only sold unfortunately at Super Kmart. I wish there was another Kmart close to me because the one I am forced to go to right now is another entire world of things and people and places. It is not a world you want to stay in for very long so a dash in and out as quickly as possible comes to my mind.
When I was out treating myself to the Martha Stewart Everyday Refrigerator Dish I saw some other items that I was interested in and decided to go back for. One of those items was these cute custard dishes that came as one cup or two cup amounts with four small glass dishes at the price of $3.99. I decided to buy the one cup amount which would be perfect for when I made jell-o and pudding for my sweet-toothed fiancé. At the cost of essentially a dollar per Martha Stewart Custard Dish, the dishes seemed like a steal of a deal.
By the clear packaging you can see the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes themselves wrapped up and stacked up one on top of other with just a piece of paper to separate each. I could tell by holding them that they were quite sturdy and had a nice circular shape to them. Martha Stewart Custard Dishes seemed to be perfect for custards of course but also other little deserts that I think are fun to make.
When I got the custard cups home and took off the clear wrapping and held one in my hand, I was quite pleased. The Martha Stewart Custard Dish had a little under four inch diameter on top and tapered down to a two inch diameter. There was a small lip to the dish around the rim and the glass seemed to have a thickness of a ½ of a centimeter which is nice and sturdy. About ¾ down from the rim of the Martha Stewart Custard Dish are three rings/ridges into the glass that are so close together they match up altogether to only about a ½ centimeter in width. It gives the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes a little fancy touch without overdoing it.
There is also an engraving at the bottom of the Martha Stewart Custard Dish with MSE (Martha Stewart Everyday), 1 cup for measuring out, and reminds you that the dishes are microwave safe. The engraving is plain and does not disturb the style of the nice looking Martha Stewart Custard Dishes. One of the reasons why I like the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes so much is that they are plain and simple, elegant but not overstated.
The Martha Stewart Custard Dishes are able to be used in the microwave, freezer, oven, and dishwasher with no hassle. They also do not stain so you dont have to worry about that Raspberry Jell-o creating a red line around the glass. It is also said on the packaging that the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes retain heat well.
The glass itself is genuine Pyrex (taken from packaging) and comes with a full two year warranty should the glass turn out to be defective. World Kitchen, Inc. who makes the Pyrex glass will replace the item if it breaks from oven heat within the two years you first have them.
For Warranty Information about Pyrex you may call 1-877-523-7188.
There are safety and usage instructions and if not followed could possible be the cause of a fatal break later on. You must take care of your Martha Stewart Custard Dishes properly by never going from extreme temperatures of hot and then freezing. The glass may break if that is the case. You cannot use the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes on the top of your stove and not under the Broiler of your oven as well. It is also stated not to use to overheat oil or butter in the microwave as this may cause them to break. Lastly it suggests not to use the dish should it be chipped or cracked.
The Martha Stewart Custard Dishes are very pretty and I am so glad that I made the choice to get them. It was only at a cost of $3.99 which like I said is a great deal. They are perfect for any dessert items should you have another couple over for dinner one night. Although they were inexpensive, the Martha Stewart Custard Dishes do not look cheap to me at all. Like I stated earlier, the glass is very sturdy and I wonder if it would actually break if it fell on a hard floor. I know on my carpet it just bounces. I am not about to test it out on the kitchen floor though. Sorry I love them too much.
The Martha Stewart Everyday Collection is not something that I would have expected to like so much. One, I couldnt stand her show. Two, well the scandal and all didnt exactly put her in the greatest limelight. However, I have found that the kitchen items that she sells are quite great. I am very pleased with them. So far nothing has been made cheaply nor any corners cut. I am happy to report that I have just found another place that I can buy new items that work.
If you should want to buy her collection on line: www.bluelight.com
If you should have questions or contact them: www.marthastewart.com
Otherwise, look more closely at the Martha Stewart Collection. It may just be what you need at a bargain blue light price. I love my Martha Stewart Custard Dishes and you will too. Enjoy!
Until next time,
K Parsons
