| dalepar's Full Review: Martha Stewart Everyday Montecito Collection |
I had looked at this set at the local KMart last year and was quite interested in it. I read the reviews here at that time, and several people have had the top shatter for no reason. I suspect it has to do with the metal frame around the glass, and expansion of the glass and metal. So this spring we decided to buy the table and chair set. The chairs are very comfortable, and do seem to be a better quality than they were some years ago. What we liked was the hexagon shape. We love to play cards on the patio, and our old rectangular table was too big for players to reach the center. Also, our old sling chairs were worn out. We bought the Montecito set on sale for $400. We were replacing a table and four chairs that had original cost $1100. We feel that even if this set only lasts a few years, it is still cheaper. I do not like to think that the whole world is disposable, but at times it seems to be so.
Thus far we are very pleased with the table and chairs. The chairs are heavy enough to not blow around if we have wind. The table is a perfect size for dining, playing, visiting, etc. I do hope the glass shattering problem has been addressed and solved, but time will tell.
