| Naomi7835's Full Review: Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf Pan |
As I've said in a few other of my reviews, our Local K-Mart has closed. But there is still one that is open and doesn't plan to go out of business, that is about 15 miles from my home. A few weeks ago the K-Mart sale flyer that was in the Sunday paper, had a sale on bath towels. I have been looking for a certain color of green bath towels that will go in my newly painted bathroom. So off to K-Mart I went and luckily I did find some Martha Stewart bath towels on sale that were just the right color of green that I was looking for.
Of course I had to scout out all of the houseware section, and saw a lot of Martha Stewart housewares on sale also. I finally ended up buying a Martha Stewart Brownie pan, a glass pie dish and a Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini Loaf Pan with 8 wells in it for making 8 individual loaf breads. Being they were all 20% off, I ended up paying $14.21 for all 3 of the pans.
This is a review on the Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan.
Features of this Mini-Loaf pan:
The Martha Stewart Nonstick Everyday Mini-Loaf pan has 8 wells in it for making 8 individual mini loaves.
Each well measures 4 3/8 x 2 3/8 x 1 3/8 inches.
The pan is a nice heavy weight which makes for a more even heating when baking and it has a nonstick surface that makes clean-up really easy.
Proper cleaning of the loaf pan prior to using:
As with all new pans, I washed the loaf pan out in hot soapy water, rinsed and then dried it. It was then that I noticed that some of that yellow gummy adhesive from the label was still stuck on the loaf pan, even after I had washed it.
So I just took some vegetable oil and soaked it on to a paper towel and gently rubbed the adhesive. After a few seconds of rubbing it finally came off. So then I had to re-wash the loaf pan again, and then it was finally ready to bake in. I've never had this happen before, but now I know how to remove any of that gunky adhesive if I come across a pan that has some stuck on it from the label.
Care of the Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan:
It's recommended that you not use cooking sprays on the Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan. If a recipe calls for a cooking spray, it's best to just brush the entire baking area with a little solid shortening or butter on a paper towel. The pan can also be lightly floured also if you desire.
Baking Times:
This Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan has a nonstick surface and is darker in color than pans that have a uncoated surface. This means that a nonstick surface will conduct heat differently. I find that I always lower the temperature of my oven by 25 degrees lower then what a recipe calls for.
Removing the Mini loaves after baking:
After baking the Mini Loaves let the pan cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. After the 10 minutes are up the loaves will release very easily by tapping the pan lightly and shaking the pan gently. This will loosen the loaves so they can be removed and then placed on a rack to cool further.
If you do have trouble getting the loaves to release this way, you can take a small nylon spatula and gently lift out each of the loaves. Although I've not had any trouble with my loaves releasing from the pan.
What about cleaning the Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan. Is it dishwasher safe?
Yes the Martha Stewart loaf pan is certainly dishwasher safe and can be cleaned in your dishwasher. You say that you don't have a dishwasher? Then it can be washed by hand and requires no more than a quick scrub in hot soapy water, rinsed and then dried.
If you do have an area that has food stuck on, then just a gentle rubbing with a sponge will usually take off any stuck on food. But if the pan is greased properly you shouldn't have any food that is left sticking on the baking surface.
One other thing is, that it's a good idea to avoid sudden temperature changes, such as running cold water over the hot mini loaf pan, or placing the hot mini loaf pan on a cold surface.
Do you have any baking pans that the inside corners of the pan are all straight and have found it hard to clean food out of these corners? Well the corners in the 8 wells of this Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan have all rounded inside corners, which makes cleaning a breeze.
I like all my Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Pans along with this Mini-Loaf pan. Martha Stewart pans that have the nonstick surfaces always holds up well. Because the Nonstick surface of the Mini-Loaf Pan covers the entire pan, not just the baking area, clean-up is very easy also.
Never use steel wool or rough scouring pads, as they may damage the nonstick coating. By taking good care of your pans, they will treat you well in the long run.
Safety Measure:
Never use the Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan on top of the stove or allow the pan to come in contact with an open flame.
Warranty:
The Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf Pan comes with a 15 year warranty and is warranted to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use.
In November I plan on making several batches of Banana, Pumpkin, Carrot and Cranberry mini loaves and freezing them for the Holidays.
These mini loaves make a nice snack for my grand kids when they come over to visit with us. There just the right size for children to enjoy with a glass of cold milk. And being there small mini loaves they thaw very quickly when there frozen.
Great for Gift giving:
Why not make a batch of these mini loaves, and wrap them in colored plastic wrap and then finish them off with a nice ribbon. These would make a nice gift for a shut in or an elderly neighbor, who may not be able to bake. By placing 2 or 3 of the mini loaves in a nice basket, it would make a nice gift. I've never met anyone who didn't enjoy getting some homemade baked goods.
Final Recommendation:
I recommend this Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan. It's a nonstick heavy weight loaf pan, which means more even heating when baking and makes wonderful Mini loaves for gift giving or just simply for your family to enjoy.
A quick note before I end this review. There is a Banana Loaf recipe that does come with the Martha Stewart Everyday Nonstick Mini-Loaf pan. I've tried it and it does taste wonderful. But if you want a quick recipe just buy a box of a Bread and Muffin mix from your supermarket and follow the few simple ingredients for the bread. I've made these and in just a matter of minutes their in the oven baking. Don't use the temperature they tell you to use though, just bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. The box will make 8 mini loaves. Enjoy!
Thanks for reading and Happy Baking!
