| samarayum's Full Review: Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover |
After a recent corneal tear I have to be especially careful about what I near my eyes for products. Especially removing make up which can sometimes be quite a tedious task. A few months back I was invited to a Mary Kay party thrown by one of my friends. The deal being you needed to purchase something in order for the consultant to do our makeup for my friends wedding day. Plus I tend to buy a little something at the house parties I go to.
I tried this product as a facial routine that the consultant had set up for us. Instantly I was in love! It took off all my mascara and eye shadow (I tend to wear the blackest mascara I can get and dark eye shadow also).
The 3.75 fl. Oz. bottle is made of pink see through plastic and has a pink cover. The contents dispense through a cover at the neck of the bottle that has a hole to make squeezing and content control easier.
Mary Kays snippet about the product, Gently removes eye makeup, including waterproof mascara, without tugging or pulling the delicate skin in the eye area. Formula does not leave skin feeling dry.
The product works as follows: You need to shake the bottle (think salad dressing) to mix all the components. Squeeze a little on a cotton ball and sweep it across the eye until nothing else comes off. I then flip the cotton ball use the other side for the other eye. I do this every night before bed, in the past I would just go to bed with my makeup on (GASP! I know how bad that is!). No more dark circles under my eyes in the morning due to makeup smearing. Now I love how the product works, but it does tend to leave my eye area feeling a little greasy.
Prior to using this product I used to use the facewash and water method in the morning. Let me tell you that does not really work compared to this product. You have to scrub more and still have residual left in the crevices and under the eye area. Especially the dark mascara and eye makeup. This product takes it away and it is a lot safer for the eye area!
It truly is gentle on sensitive eyes and the sensitive skin area around the eyes. I have not had any adverse reactions to the product. I have gotten it into my actual eye by accident and it has not caused any reactions. I wouldnt recommend putting it your eye regularly but a little bit is not going to hurt you. It is also safe for contact lense wearers.
This product retails for $14.00 (suggested retail) and can be purchased through a Mary Kay distributor or at their website. www.marykay.com. I have had the same bottle since March and it is now August. A little bit does go a long way.
I would buy this product again. It does what it claims, comes from a reputable company, and is sensitive to my eyes. I can deal with a little bit of greasy residue in exchange for now having to sandpaper my makeup off in the morning.
