traxie2001's Full Review: Mary Kay Oil Free Hydrating Gel
Let me first say that I used to sell Mary Kay and am a life-long fan! I was very excited about trying this product because I thought it could solve my problem of flaking skin in the winter. I used for several days to test it out before ultimately giving up. The texture of this product is wonderful - silky and on the light side. It has a pleasant, but not overwhelming, scent. I felt that it left my skin very moisturized and ready to face the winter elements. Unfortunately, just a few days after using this product, my skin began to break out pretty badly. I used it for a few more days because it did a nice job of stopping the flaking. However, stopping the flaking at the cost of breaking out was too high a price to pay, so I quit using it.
I was surprised that my skin broke out because the product was originally designed for oily skin. Further more, it says "non-comedogenic" on the jar. I think that the moisturizer itself is just a bit heavier than my skin could take (though it's not by any means a heavy moisturizer).
In the end, I think that idea of having a moisturizer for us Oily-prone gals is a great idea, too bad this one didn't work for me in execution. I would recommend that someone try a sample version of this before plunking down $30.
