At first, upon entering the world of makeup, I balked at the idea of now, after I put all the stuff on , then having to keep it looking fresh and new all day. Now it's become an obsession. Mary Kay Oil Mattifier shows to just what lengths a person will go to to keep a shine free face. Thank goodness it works and is simple to use.
What Is Mary Kay Oil Mattifier?
Unfortunately it is hard to find a picture on the Mary Kay website of how this exactly looks. It comes in a box - and in the box is a light weight, slender plastic tube - all in white with a silver screw off cap. It feels like almost nothing in your hand and the tube is so super soft - you can squeeze it, drop it, bend it. It contains about .6 fl ounce of product - which may sound like not much, but lasts forever. The product itself comes out of a small whole in the squeeze tube (like many concealer tubes I have used)and shows an odorless white and creamy substance that is thin but not runny. You simply take a little of the product onto your fingertip and dot and pat onto the surface of your skin - immediately the area becomes more matte as the product absorbs.
That's it! A shine free surface for at least 3-4 hours minimum.
So What Does Mary Kay Say?
From the box:
"For Oily Skin. Oil-free. 100% fragrance-free. Non-comedogenic. Safe for sensitive skin. Clinically tested for skin irritancy and allergy.
Take control of oil and shine. This lightweight formula dries to a neutral, matte finish instantly absorbing oil and controlling shine for at least 8 hours. "
How Have I Used Mary Kay Oil Mattifier? (Tips)
I have used it 2 ways - under foundation and over it. I have used it as a first step in preparing my face - I dab a little onto my oil areas (for me my T zone), let dry a minute, and then apply foundation and powder over it. I have also used it over my foundation and powder as a mid-day touch up. Both times it immediately works to control oil and shine - the product is amazing. Really. It is close to the idea of blotting powder or paper, but to me much easier to carry and use.
At first I was worried about putting something "additional" on my face - but this Mary Kay Oil Mattifier does not disturb my makeup at all - if anything it helps it to look more fresh! All in all I prefer to use it over foundation for 1 main reason - I have something I prefer to use under my foundation to help control oil ( I dab a little Milk of Magnesia before I put on my makeup, but that's another story). I find this product easier to find in my purse than the Mary Kay Beauty Blotters Oil Absorbing Tissues and at times easier to use. It's been nice to have the option of both.
It costs $15.00 a tube for this product, though I (so far) have gotten my tubes for free from my beloved Mary Kay representative. I think she us trying to hook me so I will eventually break down and buy some. I find the tube lasts a long time - I still have the first 1 I got this summer and it seems to have plenty of product left.
All in All
I once again could not be more pleased with Mary Kay Oil Mattifier. I find it to be yet another great oil controlling product from Mary Kay. I have not had an reactions, breakouts, sensitivities or etc from using this product - it has been nothing but a breeze to use and own. I would recommend it for any face type that wants to help control the amount of oil and shine shown on their face- it's a really neat product I don't think you will regret using.
Mary Kay Oil Mattifier can be purchased through Ebay, or through any reputable Mary Kay seller. The basic Mary Kay website has an option for you to search for a seller near you just by typing in your zipcode (if you want to meet an actual person). Mine is local and I have ordered through her in person as well as on-line, in addition to getting wonderful gifts to try. She is also a co-worker of mine, a friend, and a fellow Epinions member. This product is not available from major retailers. It may be purchased from individual Mark Kay consultants, such as (*used with permission):
