patricknjacob's Full Review: Mary Kay Satin Hands Pampering Set
Mary Kay Satin Hands Pampering Set is a four-product set for dry hands. In order to use these products, you need to have clean hands with no jewerly on. I have to say that it does work well. However, there are lots of products that work as well on my hands that aren’t nearly as complicated. I shouldn’t complain though, I received my set as a gift.
Here is how it works: The first item in my set is Extra Emollient Night Cream. It comes in a 2.1-ounce tube. The actual product comes out as a thick pink cream with a Vaseline texture and feel (no wonder, because the first ingredient is Petrolatum). The smell is -- well, it smells just like the Alberto V05 Conditioning Hairdressing that my mother used to use. You apply a small amount of the cream on your hands and massage in. The product says for added hydration you can dampen your hands with water prior to applying the Extra Emollient Night Cream. I always wash my hands before using my Mary Kay Satin Hands Pampering Set, so my hands are always wet. (I have to add here that I did try this on my hair, and it works just the same as the Alberto V05 product. Think it could possible be the same thing?)
The second item in the set is the Buffing Cream. This cream comes out of the tube as a thin blue cream with teeny gritty “buffing grains” in it. It has a faint almost medicine-like smell. You apply and massage it in your hands over the Extra Emollient Night Cream .
With both of these products still on your hands, you use the third of the four products in the Mary Kay Satin Hands Pampering Set. This is the Satin Hands Cleansing Gel. This is like a pale, pale yellow shower gel and smells like soap. You massage a bit of this on your hands and use it under running water to wash off the previous two products, then dry your hands thoroughly.
Lastly is the Hand Cream with Sunscreen SPF 4. Apply a generous amount to dry hands and massage in. It is a cream colored lotion. It feels really good on my hands -- not oily or too thick, but it also has a medicine-like smell.
What I really think: As I said earlier, this stuff works. However, as with most Mary Kay products, I find it really expensive for what it does. I think there are a lot of other products (like plain Eucerin hand cream) that works just as well, and are much easier to use. It was a great gift and fun to use with some girl friends, but I don't think I would ever buy it for myself.
