Unfortunately, I have very fine straight hair that does not like to hold any kind of style. I have used many body building styling products. Some work, some don't. What I really needed was lift on the top of my head. I needed lift in the roots of my hair so that my hair didn't just sit flat and limp on my head.
While shopping in an Ulta store, I cam across the Matrix Amplify line of hair products. After looking over the shampoo, conditioner, and styling products, I settled on Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. It sounded like just what I needed.
About this Product
Especially developed to build body and thickness where hair needs it most-the roots. A directional "snozzle" applicator provides optimal lift with a weightless, humidity-resistant formula.
Especially formulated for volumizing. Good on all hair types. Safe on chemically treated hair. Medium to firm control.

Price and Packaging
Matrix Amplify Root Lifter comes in a fat blue bottle with a nozzle at the top. The nozzle is longer and sticks out farther than a typical hairspray bottle. To use the product, you place the nozzle close to the roots of your hair and push down on the top of the nozzle, just like you would with a bottle of hairspray. Spray the entire root area with the Root Lifter. Then you want to take your hand and massage it into the hair to make sure your roots are covered.
An 8.5 oz. bottle will cost around $11.50. It is sold at salons and Ulta stores. It is also for sale online at drugstore.com
Ingredients
Water (aqua), PVP, Chitosan, Lactic Acid, Panthenol, Wheat Amino Acids, Cocodimonium Hydroxypropyl Silk Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Fragrance, Polysorbate 20, Methylparaben, DMDM Hydantoin, Phenoxyethanol, FD&C Green No. 3
My Experience
This product works best on damp hair so I shampooed and conditioned as usual. After my shower, I towel dried my hair and then let it hair dry for a little bit while I got dressed and did other things. I didn't want my hair to be dripping wet, but it did need to still be damp.
Using the Root Lifter was easy. I just directed the nozzle toward the scalp and pumped the nozzle a couple times to dispense the product. It sprayed out easily. I gently massaged the product into my roots to make sure they were covered. Very simple.
Then I began blow drying my hair. I use a large rounded hair brush to style my hair with. I began drying my hair, focusing on the roots. I lifted section of hair and dried them. I could notice a difference immediately. My hair had lift from the roots. When I use a body building styling product all over my hair like mousse or gel, I can usually get a lot of body in the bulk of my hair, but the roots are often still limp or go limp very quickly. Not with Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. The product truly lifts hair at the roots.
My roots look lifted and amplified for most of the day. The hold is very light. I blow my hair dry so there is never any stiffness to my hair. It looks soft and natural. But it also doesn't last all day. It will get me through most of the day though that's for sure. I could probably make it last longer if I followed up with a body building hairspray, but I don't.
Final Thoughts
I really like the results I get from using Matrix Amplify Root Lifter. It lifts my hair from the roots and gives my hair body that I haven't had with many other styling products. If you have fine thin hair that needs a boost, check out Matrix Amplify Root Lifter!
