| merlot's Full Review: Mattel Barbie as Rapunzel: Enchanted Tower Playset |
My daughter truly believes she is a Princess. For her birthday she seemed to be into Rapunzel. She wanted a Rapunzel Barbie, Penelope the Dragon, the Rapunzel movie and just about anything else that had to do with Rapunzel. A friend of mine, with a daughter the same age, chose the Barbie Rapunzel Enchanted Tower Playset to give to my daughter.
The Enchanted Tower Playset is quite cute. Once you open the package you will need to assemble the tower. It takes just a few minutes to snap on the roof, the floor, and assemble the desk, dressing table, chair, and apply the stickers. Rapunzels tower is lavender with a pink roof with lots of rose bushes at the bottom of the tower. The back of the tower has one open panel so Rapunzel can stand in her tower while she waits for Prince Stefan. One panel swings open to hang the portrait on. The floor has a secret drawer which is perfect for storing all those small pieces.
In addition to the tower, there is a painting canvas and a paintbrush. Dip the brush into some cold water, paint the canvas and a portrait of Prince Stefan will appear. My daughter loves this. The vanity has a little pull out shelf on the reverse side that turns it into an easel. We always have trouble getting the portrait to stay put and just generally hold it and then hang it on the wall.
The tower is not big enough to hold all of the pieces that come with this and still put Rapunzel inside. My daughters usually just put the desk outside of the tower and put Rapunzel inside.
My daughter plays with this toy quite frequently and it seems to be well made. It really allows her to act out the story of Rapunzel, but I do know that this fad will fade once Rapunzel isn't the hot item of the year. In the meantime, my daughter is so infatuated with everything Rapunzel that she has asked to change her name to Rapunzel.
If your little girl likes Rapunzel, this is a good playset to get. It will let her use her imagination and act out the story of Rapunzel. There are some small pieces (paintbrush, mirror, water pitcher, come/brush, and perfume bottle) that could pose a choking hazard for smaller siblings, but that's true with any Barbie product.
This product sells for approximately $19.99, since it was a gift I am not sure what the exact price paid was.
Rapunzel Barbie and Prince Stefan are not included with this set. We have the Rapunzel Barbie, but any Barbie can play in this set.
