Would you like to own an adorable Daddy & Son doll set? I recommend Mattel Happy Family Alan and Ryan. Sporting khakis, matching plaid shirts, and big grins, this Father and Son team is a fun addition to the Barbie lineup. Designed as part of the Mattel Happy Family line, it is nice that Alan and Ryan are sold separate from Mattel Happy Family Midge and Baby, offering a Dad and Son set for any 12" doll. I feel that Mattel Happy Family Alan and Ryan is an adorable set, and well worth the suggested retail of $19.99.
With this Father & Son set you receive:
Alan
Ryan
Sporty Stroller
Several Plastic Accessories
- Yellow No Spill Cup
- Yellow Camera w/ Carrying Strap
- Blue Frisbee
Heavy Card Stock Accessories
- Cookie Box
- Cereal Box
- Sucker
- Framed Family Portrait
Alan stands approximately 12 tall, and has a lean muscular build. His cheerful grin parts to show a brilliant white tooth line. His brown hair (actual rooted hair, versus painted on) is easy to care for. Speaking of the hair, Alan has two-toned hair that is gelled back. He arrives wearing Khaki colored shorts, a white tank top, a ¾ sleeve length plaid shirt, and white sneakers. A wedding band is evident on his left hand. His arms and legs pivot with ease, and his head is simple to turn. His thumbs are slightly parted from his fingers, allowing him to hold the stroller handle. Overall this doll exhibits a cheerful disposition.
Ryan resembles a toddler-aged child. He is outfitted similar to Dad, with khakis and a matching plaid shirt. His arms and legs pivot with ease, and his head turns. Ryan has pliable brown hair that is fashioned in a bowl sort-of manner and is easy to care for.
The stroller in this set actually has a safety belt (a grosgrain blue ribbon) yeah Mattel! My youngest likes this sporty looking stroller, especially the fact that it actually moves and that it leans back (both the back adjusts and the foot area). Primary colors are blue, yellow, and white. The seat portion of this stroller is blue and is perfect size for Ryan. A white netted pouch hangs along the back of the handle, providing a perfect place for storing on-the-go snacks and beverage. A molded handle - on the top of the stroller handle provides a perfect grasp point for Alan. The wheels turn with ease, allowing Alan to actually stroll Ryan.
My youngest adores Mattel Happy Family Alan and Ryan. When I asked her what she likes about this set she replied, Lots! She explained that the actual hair versus the painted on type is nice, the outfits are neat, the set includes a stroller, and Alan has a wedding ring. Also, she likes that the set is centered on a stroll to the park, which is an activity that she frequently enjoys with her Father. She further stated that it is nice to have a family set. Nice observations for a 2nd grader!
Overall, the colors of all pieces in this set are gender friendly, easily allowing this set to be enjoyed by boys and girls. My youngest daughter received this set, along with Mattel Happy Family Midge and Baby, and an accessory kit (maternity wear). She has enjoyed playing with all pieces, but is especially appreciative of Mattel Happy Family Alan and Ryan. I appreciate the attention to detail on Alan, Ryan, and the stroller. Regardless of the controversy surrounding the Mattel Happy Family line, I seriously feel that most will appreciate this fine set.
