Mattel Harry Potter Slime Chamber
One of the many toys my grandson received for his 6th birthday was the Harry Potter Slime Chamber. I would not be surprised if half the kids in the country bought this thing, the commercial played every five minutes on the cable cartoon channels. My grandson knowing his birthday was just around the corner, made sure all adults heard him say I want that every time the commercial came on, than he would stare and wait for a response or a guarantee that he will be receiving this toy.
My grandson is not the type of child that wants every toy he sees on TV, actually this is one of the view times he has fell in love with a toy from a commercial. So, I knew that I was going to buy it for my little birthday boy, but I told him that he could not have the Harry Potter Slime Chamber because he is too big for toys, that I am buying him toenails and bellybutton fuzz for his birthday. He just laughed and called me a fat liar.
The Harry Potter Slime Chamber was the last present he opened. I wanted to see his face as he opened the gift that he has dreamed about and asked for dozens of times. After he ripped open the Sponge Bob SquarePants rapping paper that took me half the day to find, he glanced at the Harry Potter Slime Chamber and said, "cool" and than he tossed the box into the pile of toys that stood taller than him. I have to admit my feelings were a little hurt; I was expecting a big happy hug and a thank you.
To my delight the next morning the little fartknucle wanted to play with the Harry Potter Slime Chamber, It was one of the first toys he ripped open. He woke me up at 6:27 AM to ask me if the toy needed batteries. After we determined no batteries were required, we opened the box. He stuck his head in the box to see what kind of magic was going on in there before he reached his little hand deep down to pull out his Slime Chamber and everything that comes with it. He pulled out the medium sized cup of green slime, he pulled out the Slime Chamber and than he looked into the empty box and cried "Harry Potter is missing!!!".
I could not believe it, I thought he misplaced the Harry Potter Action Figure already, we started looking all over the house. My grandson promised he did not misplace anything from the box.
About 30 minutes later I decided to read the box, I found out that Harry Potter is not included. I have never been so angry in my life, I thought I was going to die of a heart attack right in front of the boy. I wanted to find the moron at Mattel Toys that decided to not include the most important part of the toy and kick him directly in the balls. It took me hours to get over my frustration.
My grandson was much less angry than I was, he simply grabbed one of his G.I Joes and started playing. He turned the Harry Potter Slime Chamber into the G.I Joe Slime Chamber.
The Slime Chamber.
The Slime Chamber is a fairly simple toy, on top there is a snake's head that you pour the slime into, you close the snake's mouth to keep the slime in and you release the slime by touching a switch in the back of the toy. When the slime is released it slowly pours out of the snake's mouth down the chamber onto anything standing below. That's all it does.
The Slime
The slime is exactly what it sounds like, green slime. It has almost no smell and does not stick to or stain anything.
The bottom line about the Harry Potter Slime Chamber
This toy cost around $20 and it did not include Harry Potter. The Slime Chamber was fun at first but the snake's mouth broke the same day. So, that made the whole toy pretty much useless. My grandson had fun playing with the slime, but you could buy similar gooey slime at any toy store for under $3. I give the Harry Potter Slime Chamber two stars.
