Harry Potter in Invisibility Cloak - not just an empty package....

In celebration of the new Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets trailer hitting cinemas around the globe, I've gone back to review some of my favourite figures of the young wizard and his friends from the original movie. Today I'm looking at a figure from the 6" Harry Potter Wizard line, Harry Potter in Invisibility Cloak. Originally this figure was available for $6, but you might find it cheaper since the line has been out for so long.
Invisible Harry supports a nice 3D package with attractive art on the card reminiscent of the film and movie, and a bubble protecting the figure with Hogwart's imagery surrounding. This is top quality for a MOC collector, but a slight pain for us who open our figures, because of all the cardboard and plastic you have to cut through to get the figure. The back of the card has information about his accessories and pictures of the other figures in the line.
Out of his plastic prison, Harry stands 5 1/2" tall with a great little sculpt of his Hogwart's uniform and an impressive facial sculpt which looks rather like Daniel Radcliffe, the young actor who played Harry. The sculpters have even gone the extra effort and adorned him with proper glasses, rather than the painted-on glasses that are seen on other figures. The spiffing invisibility cloak fits nicely on Harry's shoulders and covers his body, and is removable to admire his detail. The special feature about Harry is that his entire figure is sculpted from clear plastic, making him "invisible". This works to great effect and he looks nice standing inamongst other figures (who no doubt can't see him).
Harry's accessories are limited to the invisibility cloak and the same magic trick and casting stone that come with every 6" figure. These are nothing more than a cheap gimmick and are of no use to you; the casting stone is to be used in an enormously overpriced Harry Potter game, and the magic trick is so stupid the previously reviewed Mountain Troll could overcome it. For his price, Harry could do with more accessories - perhaps an invisible lantern and book would make Harry better value.
Articulation is only substandard for Harry; he weighs in with neck, arms, wrists, legs and knees, but most of the articulation is pointless because it is hidden beneath the invisibility cloak and can't be reposed. The knee joints are very useless, since they can make it hard for Harry to stand, and the wrist joints are, surprisingly enough, ball joints, which makes no sense at all. Though the lack of articulation is not a big problem overall because of the invisibility cloak, which is created for only one pose and that pose is fine - after all, the second you take the cloak off him, you can see him again and thus you switch figures with a more visible Harry.
Overall, Harry in Invisibility Cloak is a fine Harry Potter figure and one of the best in the line. For the Harry Potter fans, this is a must have to be with the Harry in Gryffindor Robes (previously reviewed here: http://www.epinions.com/content_50342694532) - after all, the second you take off his cloak, he's just regular Harry. I'm very fond of Invisible Harry, who is great fun for display and play, rather than just a tired gimmick. Though this figure is mainly for children, collectors will be satisfied with Invisible Harry as well. Much Recommended.
