It seems kind of funny in this economy, but we have had a lot of trouble finding the die-cast cars from the Disney Pixar movie "Cars". When I saw the "Movie Moments" pack with Luigi, Guido and a tractor, there was no question. I had been unable to find any of those characters in stores and I snapped it up. All three of these characters are favorites in our house.
Item Description The "Movie Moments" pack comes with the three characters listed above, Luigi, Guido, and tractor. Luigi is a small yellow car. Looking closely at him, I would say he is a 1959 Fiat 500 (OK I looked him up on theinternet ). Guido is a small, blue forklift. The tractor is a tractor and of no particular make that I recognize. These are three of the smaller cars from the line. Guido and Luigi are supposed to be small but I was surprised at how small the tractor is. It seems a bit out of scale. All three are made of die-cast metal.
Durability All three Disney Pixar World of Cars characters in this pack are made of painted die-cast metal with a plastic under-body. Metal is generally pretty durable, and these toys are no exception. Guido's forklift tines seem to be made of plastic, but they would be just deadly otherwise. Under normal circumstances I don't think you are going to break these cars outright. The paint does start to chip almost at once and I hate seeing all my $3 - $4 investments chipped away, but that is the reality. My one knock on durability is how easily the cars chip.
The Characters Of the three characters in this pack (Luigi, Guido, and tractor) two are major characters from the movie Cars. Luigi and Guido have major parts in the movie and happen to be my favorites. The tractor has more than a bit part, but no lines others than "moo". Despite tractor's semi irrelevance I think these are very good characters to have in your set.
Playing with the Disney Pixar Cars Luigi, Guido, and tractor These are probably three of the most played with of all of our cars. My daughter's like them because they are major characters and have unique, small shapes. Even the tractor gets his share of play, perhaps because he is just so unique looking. We also bought "Luigi'sCasa Dela Tires" from Toys R Us. It is a piece of junk, but obvious Luigi and Guido feature in that scene. Finally, my daughters like me to play cars with them. When that happens I often like to be Guido, Luigi, and theFerrari. The cars from this set are fun and durable, as well as being good characters.
Value The bad news is that you don't really get a good discount for buying in bulk. As a matter of fact, I think I paid more per car than I have been paying to buy them individually. That kind of smarts and I suppose that means this set gets a poor value grade. $12 for three tiny little cars isn't much of a deal. Due to the popularity of the characters, and their scarcity there was no questions of not buying them. However, value was not one of the things that influenced my decision.
Conclusion I think most children who have many of the die-cast Cars toys will want these characters. Having two of the major characters is a good way to start off a collection. I recommend the DisneyPixar Cars Movie Moments Pack- Luigi, Guido, and tractor as long as you aren't going to get a bunch of duplicates. They only real negative to these toys is how easily the paint chips, but other than that they are quality items. I recommend them highly to Cars fans.
