Pros:Snow! Colorful, makes my daughter smile
Cons:Not much to the story, but I make up stuff to make it last longer
The Bottom Line: Use a little imagination and your child will enjoy this book just as much as mine does

Max and Ruby are a pair of bunnies desinged by Rosemary Wells.  Max is the little brother and Ruby is the older (and often bossy) sister.  My daughter loves almost every Max and Ruby book we have and this one doesn't disappoint.

Snowy Day is a simple book.  Basically Max wants to go outside to go sledding, but Ruby says first they need to put on their snow gear.  They put on their snowsuits, gloves, hat, scarfs and boots before heading out to go zoom down the hill.  That's it!

Even though there is not much too this book, my daughter loved flipping through it even since she first started flipping through books.  She points to all the objects - shoes, gloves, sled, etc and waits for me to name them.  I also try to point out other objects on each page.  I also enhance the story by adding my own description to what is going on in each page.

The bright and colorful images on each page keep my daughters attention and we both love all the colors!  It's a great way for her to learn colors, of course, but there are other things she can learn as well.  Max and Ruby count when they put on their gear, so she can practice counting.  In addition she can learn that she needs to bundle up before going outside in the winter.

Overall I rate this book 4 stars because my daughter loves it, it's cute, and we have fun reading it.  I wish there was a bit more to the story to bump it up to 5 stars.  It is definitely geared at young babies and brand new readers because it is not at all complex.  I'd recommend it, especially for those of us who live in the snowy areas.
