if you are like me, you will probably want to cut the buds off and use the cord for shoelaces.
I got these thinking if they sounded half as good as the Sony EX70 plugs, I could happily use them in a more carefree fashion since I wouldn't be concerned about trashing a $40 set of earphones.
Comfort is good. Like the EX70, three sizes of soft sillicone rubber tips are included so most anyone can get a good fit, and I prefer the Y type cord design to the asymetric "neck chain" design of the Sony's.
A nice little leatherette pouch is included for storage. It's got the embedded spring strips that opens like a mouth when you press the ends together.
Plugged them in to my trusty MP3 player and put on some tunes. My hopes were dashed. These things had virtually no bass, like you'd expect with an in-ear sealed plug, no high end, like you would expect from small drivers and lightweight coils. Nothing but distorted midrange that assulted my ears.
My durability rating is an estimate as I really could not bring myself to continue listening.
Sorry Maxell, great idea to borrow from Sony's design, and throw in some extra features, but a reasonable frequency response is a must. Go back and redesign the drivers. Even if you have to jack the price to $20, you would have a winner.
