leemi's Full Review: Maxell HP-NC1 Consumer Headphones
I purchased one of these at a Futureshop while traveling in Canada. At $30 CDN it sounded like a good deal. The noise canceling properties are noticeable. It managed to make the loud roar of the aircraft I was flying into a low roar that was bearable. As reported by users of other brands of noise canceling headphones, the noise canceling mechanism does seem to affect the quality of the sound when listening to music through the headphones but this is preferable to not having the noise cancellation at all. There have been times that I have noticed a hissing sound, much like white noise, but not always. I have also noticed that when connected to certain devices (my Aiwa portable CD player) a hum is apparent as soon as I plug in the connector to the device.
