I bought a pair of these phones after comparison shopping for a while. Since it's hard to do a real comparison in the store, I bought the pair that advertised the best noise cancellation performance (15dB at 300Hz) for the money. These won easily on those criteria. I've been using my set for about a year, flying at least 3 hours per week, and have changed the batteries only once. They are very quiet when turned on, and have adequate sound quality. The cans are small, and they get uncomfortable after a few hours - not recommended for sleeping on the plane (I don't know if any headphones would be).
I have had some problems with the cable connections to the control box - there's one cable to the phones, and a separate, permanently attached wire for the audio source. This makes the set more work to stow in a briefcase than a single cable model might be.
I would not recommend these for listening in quiet environments - I have noticed some hum and occasional volume dropouts as the cables age.
