As I studied my lay just off of the fairway on 18, I realized that the whole day came down to this hole, this shot. The rest of my foursome lay comfortably on the fairway behind me allowing me time to consider my shot as they gleefully looked on.
It was 200 yards to the pin, only a foot wide gap between the trees in front of me, a chance at birdie, or a safe chip out to the fairway for a possible par.
Decision time!
Pull a mouse with the safe shot.
Be a tiger, shoot the gap for the green, get myself a birdie attempt.
Just call me Tiger!
Taking my Maxfli Revolution 3-iron from my bag, I approached the ball with equal parts of anticipation and dread at what I was about to do. One foot, 12 inches of window, that is all I had for my shot at the pot. 200 yards. Taking a deep breath and spotting the flag I made a small adjustment for wind, started my back swing and then let loose with my shot. Pow! The 21-degree loft of the 3-iron drove the ball through the gap barley nicking the top branches. My ball landed three feet from the hole, took one bounce and rolled into the hole for eagle.
This is one reason why I will never own another set of irons but my Maxflis and why I highly recommend them for anyone who loves to golf.
I purchased my Maxfli Revolution irons on the advice of a friend and I have paid him back by kicking his butt consistently since then. I absolutely love the clubs. The full set includes a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, PW, and a SW. The loft rises only 3-4 degrees between each club that has increased my ability to learn the clubs and become more consistent with my shots. I have found the larger blade to be much more forgiving than clubs that I have used in the past.
There are several grip options that you can choose from but I chose to stick with the standard velvet wrap that the club comes with. I have found the weight of the shaft and head combined give the clubs a very nice balance and think that they have been a major factor in lowering my score. The $650 dollar price tag seemed steep when I purchased them but they have easily paid for themselves and then some.
As a final note I have to pay special tribute to the wedges. My short game has improved so much since I bought these clubs that even my friends have noticed it on the course. I simply have more ball control with these clubs.
Once again, I highly recommend the Maxfli Revolution Mid Sized golf clubs. I give them a FORE, but I rate them a five.
