| daquan's Full Review: MaxxAir 24" Velocity Portable Air Circulator - BF2... |
WHAT'S THE 411 ON THIS PRODUCT?
First, let me say that I've been looking for a commercial or industrial-type high velocity air circulator for the better part of about three years now. I wanted a commercial or industrial fan that could stand up to years and years of use summer, after summer, after summer and not break down. One that is very heavy duty, strong and dependable.
I've heard about these types of fans for a long time. I saw this unit at Home Depot last summer, but I didn't buy it, and was soon wishing that I did and regretting that I didn't!
But I heard that this unit along with the larger ones, are used in industrial environments such as factories and warehouses. Because they are designed to move extremely huge volumes of air around and help keep the employees comfortably cool!
In a world where a high demand is needed for cooling such large spaces and giving a powerful thrust of air almost continuously, these fans have to be designed and made tough and rugged to take on the constant everyday use.
WHAT THEN?
I searched the Web to see if I could get some more info on these types of fans. I found out that there are different brands, sizes and the amounts of air they can move. I was amazed, flabbergasted, intrigued and in awe!! Well, I was not buying another ordinary thin cheap and flimsily-made wimpy lightweight plastic breakable fan. I will NEVER buy those again! The one that I wanted would be a heavy and entirely all-metal one.
So I kept going back to Home Depot to see if I could get a large fan that could move large volumes of air. Three trips; nothing! All they had were those cheap and wimpy plastic and lightweight thin metal ones!
Then early last week, I went back for one more try. I struck gold!! This time, I saw the MaxxAir 24" High Velocity portable Air Circulator - BF24TF there on display. I bought one, took it home and tried it out.
WHAT ELSE?
After having turned this unit on, I was blown away by the amazing amount of air coming from this fan!! I couldn't believe it! It's almost as though I'm on the beach in Florida or Honolulu and enjoying a cool oasis breezy wind!!
I thought to myself; "This is perfect! I don't have to run the air conditioner all the time and can save energy on not-so-hot days and nights!" What a joy it is to have a huge powerful industrial fan in the living room!!
OTHER ADVANTAGES:
This is no mere run-of-the-mill fan! For instance, it makes all those cheap and flimsy plastic fans look like toys. Its solid heavy duty construction is unmatched against the fans that I used to buy, very impressive and it can stand up to the task of moving massive amounts of air from room to room!
There is no other home fan quite like this one! It's designed and made using some of the finest materials. And there is nothing wimpy about it at all.
It is made principally by Ventamatic - a company that's been around for at least 50 years or so. How many home fans are made with all metal these days? Not very many, I can assure you that!! And even most of the ones that DO have metal, the metal grills are still very thin, cheap and flimsily-made! They can still bend and eventually break and snap off like a small twig!!
This fan is built like a battleship or an Army tank! It can stand up to many years of long hard use because of it's solid heavy duty design and its truly powerful commercial-grade motor.
Actually, this fan is the junior version of the giant powerful 32", 36", 38" & 42" MaxxAir High Velocity Air Ciculators. But trust me, this fan IS the largest and most powerful one in the house right now!!
And with all of the windows open, and if all your rooms are on one level and your house is of average size, this powerful fan will efficiently and effectively cool the whole house!!
CONSTRUCTION & FEATURES:
1 Powerful & sturdy 2-speed heavy duty commercial / industrial-type 1/3 hp ball bearing motor. Capacitor start. Permanently lubricated. Needs no oiling in normal use! Thermally protected.
2. Solid heavy duty all-metal construction throughout. No plastic parts other than the tilt adjustment knobs! Drum and grills are coated with rust-proof paint.
3. Grills and drum meet OSHA safety standards for protection against rust.
4. Four large metal blades for moving huge volumes of air.
5. Eight-foot 3-prong grounded cord.
6. Rocker switch at back of unit for low-speed, off and high-speed operation.
7. Comes with short stand already attached. Supplied tall stand can be used in placed of short stand if desired.
8. Also comes with detachable 2-wheel assembly for easy mobility from room to room.
9. Motor is also brace-mounted for added sturdiness, stability and vibration-free use.
10. Front grill and blades are removable for easy cleaning.
11. Two-year warranty on entire unit.
12. Tilts to any angle to aim cooling air where it is needed the most.
13. Has convenient side-mounted handle for mobility with wheel assembly.
14. Cubic feet per minute air movements / measurements are 2,800 for low and about 9,000 for high.
15. When mounted on the tall stand, the unit gives you powerful cooling at eye level.
16. When left mounted on the short stand, as it comes in the box, this unit picks up the cooler air from the floor and quickly / powerfully distributes it throughout the room, making the room feel cooler than it actually is!
17. Proudly made in the USA.
18. Size of fan is 4" larger than ordinary box-type and normal high velocity air circulators for a much greater more powerful air delivery.
19. Metal drum casing helps create and concentrate on a more accurate and powerful wind-tunnel-like vortex air flow from back to front of unit and keeps air from escaping through sides like most ordinary mediocre fans!
WHAT ABOUT NOISE?
This unit is a bit noisy, but I figure that it has to make SOME noise in order to work properly. Just the whirling of the fan blades spinning.
MY OWN EXPERIENCE SO FAR:
So far, I LOVE this fan!! It is exactly what I was looking for.
It's quick, powerful and it gets the job done!! I especially like its superior quality heavy all-metal construction. Most of the cheaper wimpy home fans aren't made with the high quality that this unit has!
ANY SHORTCOMINGS AT ALL?
A bit noisy. Heavy. But I imagine that an all-metal fan IS heavy. No cord wrap brackets.
IN SHORT:
Put simply, buy quality once or buy crap forever!!!
Never again put up with cheap plastic flimsily-made wimpy fans that just don't measure up!!
Even the so-called most high quality plastic fan is no match for this monster of a fan!!
This powerful unit shows all of the cheap lightweight competition out there who's boss!! You'll get superior unmatched quality construction and great performance - none of which the competition has.
The one that you see pictured above is in yellow. Mine is in a luscious orange color, which I like better. But it's the exact same model number.
I like big powerful heavy duty (((((MONSTER))))) appliances!! So it only makes sense to get a commercial or industrial product that's going to give you many, many, many years of great service, dependability and reliable performance. The kind of service that you'd expect in the industrial world where stuff is used constantly and is built to stand up to the torture of long hard everyday use!
I'll spend the extra bucks for it if it means having the unit around for a long, long, long, long, long time! It will eventually pay for itself in time, because you won't ever have to rely on the cheap and flimsily-made competition at all!!
I must point out though, that finding a permanent spot for this fan is highly recommended, since it is fairly a large monster and it DOES demand a considerable amount of floor / room real estate.
FINAL THOUGHT?
If you're sick and tired as I am of cheap flimsily-made lightweight plastic wimpy fans that just don't do the job properly, just don't measure up and are always breaking and then stop working, then it's time to step up to one of the finest high velocity air circulators out there, that your money can buy!!
You'll be glad that you did!
WHERE TO BUY THEM?
I bought this unit at Home Depot. But you can get one just about anywhere on the Web.
The co's website is http://www.bvc.com, but their products are not sold there. They also have an e-mail address which is bvc@bvc.com. You can write them to try to find out where this unit and its larger one are sold.
Usually, the large hardware chains like Home Depot and or Lowe's sell this and units like this.
