| mattyd5's Full Review: Maybelline Expert Eyes Eye Shadow Single |
While frantically searching at the last minute (as usual) in my local supermarket for some inexpensive eye makeup (Homecoming was fast approaching!), I stumbled upon Maybelline's Expert Eyes eye shadow. I remembered seeing this product being featured to make over an individual, so I decided to buy it and see if it really was that good.
It was.
I opted for the same color Seventeen magazine used on one of their makeover, er, "patients" - gray suede, which is a silvery/gray/whitish shade. I was very pleased not only at not only its wonderful color, but also the ease in which I applied it. TRUST ME when I say it was easy to apply - I am uncoordinated when it comes to applying makeup! The mini applicator was fine and did the job, and the powder itself glided nicely across my eyelids. (*NOTE: the shadow is NOT the cream-based kind, but instead the "dry" type) It gave my eyes a nice, sheen, and youthful appearance. Needless to say, I was happy with the way it made me look. Another good thing was that it lasted for the entire night! In addition, the compact itself is pretty small and thin- approximately 1" x 2" (H x W). Don't worry about it opening up by itself either - the compact shuts quite tightly and lets you know that w/ a loud click.
So far, I cannot find any faults with this eye shadow. I would recommend it to everyone female, young and old. Maybelline carries an array of colors that would, I think, be suitable for a female of any age.
Update
I still have the eyeshadow single, and it's been nearly a year since I started using it (I don't use it that often). The eyeshadow hasn't gone bad yet - the consistency and color of the substance remains the same as when I first opened it. I use it periodically and in combination with other shadows; the gray suede that I have is great for highlighting the eyebrow bone area! It's not too white, but not too gray/metallic...it's the perfect color! :) Personally, I think this is really a good deal for eyeshadow. Maybelline makes a lot of different colors, so it can suit any type of person (like me - I'm Asian). The only color I will adamantly disapprove of is the Gold. It is HORRIBLE! Don't EVER buy it! The color is OK, but the glitter they put in there was the worst! It didn't go on smoothly because of it, and made the eyeshadow look very uneven.
