I admit it - I'm addicted to makeup and nail polish. I have no less than 50 different shades of nail polish, most of it never worn. Because I paint my nails at least 2 (if not more) times a week, I'm on the constant lookout for new nail polish, most of which never lives up to my expectations. I have *very* strange nails, in that I cannot keep polish on them for more than a day without chipping. This chipping is WITH using a base coat and WITH using a top coat, with two coats of the colour. (I've also tried no base coat, no top coat, and various variations of that) If a polish stays on my fingernails for more than 15 hours without chipping, it goes into the "good" pile.
I was drawn to the Maybelline Express Finish nail polish line for their colours - lots of pretty glittery shades that I could keep on for two days and NOT have them clash with my outfits. I also adored the fact that they claimed to be fast drying (which did turn out to be VERY true) since I'd rather not spend 1+ hour painting my nails when I do it several times a week. I picked up a few colours of the nail polish and went home, giddy with new nail polish glee.
This brand of nail polishes DOES dry faster than most - the polish in the line that is mostly glitter is completely dry in under two minutes, with the smoother shades dry in under three minutes. The glitter polishes go on very smoothly but, the more matte and smooth polishes seem to have the habit of drying roughly, with lines through them that weren't evident when the nail polish was applied. The lines could amount to much frustration unless you're going to be in a dark club where it wouldn't be very evident.
Express Finish nail polish DOES stay on my nails for more than a day without chipping!$%!# Doing a quicky job with no top or base coat, I have no problem with this polish lasting for at least 3 days, and usually am able to keep it on and looking decent for up to 5 days. The glitter shades are especially good, and, as of now, I've had a glitter shade of the Express Finish polish on my toes for *2* weeks. (a very LARGE fashion miracle - polish on my toes usually lasts for a max of 5 days)
Unlike my new MAC polish which was around $10 a bottle, and the last $14 bottle I bought at Sephora, I can usually find the Express Finish polish for around $2, and have been lucky hitting the 2 for 1 sales at drug stores clearing out their older polish colours.
The one drawback of the line? As of yet, I haven't found any good darker colours - I'd love for a nice basic dark brown metallic, dark blue metallic, or, better yet, a metallic black. *Hopefully* Maybelline will expand their colour line in the future.
