The Bottom Line: I like the definition and natural-looking volumizing/lengthening, as well as the staying power.

Alright, maybe not perfection. But after trying mascara from Aveda, Revlon, Maybelline, and Clinique, I'm prepared to settle for this funky little guy.
I went on a makeup binge the other night, totaling about... $80. At Longs. Which is dump-truck load of makeup for anyone who hasn't been there. There was a two-for-one sale on Maybelline mascara, so I picked up three (go figure). I grabbed this, XXL Volume and Length, and Sky High curves. In backwards order, Sky High curves didn't curl, XXL Volume and Length left my lashes grey (whole 'nother review), and Lash Stylist did everything as promised, mostly.
I think trying three mascaras side by side (after many re-applications and re-movals) gave me a unique perspective on the comb situation. I invariably poked myself in the eye with the traditional brush mascaras, trying to get the bristles as close to my lash roots as possible and unable to judge the top and side simultaneously in relation to my eye ball. The comb, however, was more maneuvrable for me, and to this day I haven't poked my baby blues out.
For some reason, I always get the same clump on my outer lashes. Not a biggie, a simply pinch of my nails removes it, but still, I would prefer that it didn't. Oh well, beats gouging my retina. I've been trying to avoid the clump by wiggling the brush etc., but so far no dice. I tend to swipe the outer, then inner half of my lashes. Maybe that has something to do with it.
I like the look of this mascara fairly well. I have naturally thick and long lashes, and I'm just looking for a mascara look without volumizing or lengthening like crazy. With one coat, I get good coverage and lash definition. My lashes are a dark grey, almost black, with white tips, and coloring them black really makes them stand out.
