Ok, I have finally found it. I have found the foundation I have been searching for. It only took me a couple of bad foundation experiences to know what I didn't want, but it took me a long time of looking, reading, and trying foundations before I finally found one that is absolutely everything I have wanted in a foundation. I knew I wanted something with light coverage that looked natural when applied. It needed to go on easily and stay put. I didn't want anything oily or greasy. I also hoped to find something affordable. Enter Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O.
About the Product
Maybelline has come out with new foundation that is made with 50% water instead of oils. It is supposed to reduce the number of breakouts and be gentler on your skin. It is a shine-free foundation and dries to a powdery finish on your skin to leave your skin looking flawless.
There are 12 shades available. They are broken up into 3 categories: light, medium, and dark. All of the shades can be viewed on maybelline.com
Price and Packaging
This foundation is a cream foundation and comes in a small pale blue tube. The tube has a screw off silver lid and holds 1 oz. of foundation.
I purchased my tube at Target for $4.99 which is ridiculously inexpensive. I have also seen it at Walmart. I checked around online and the only place I can find that carries it is walgreens.com for $5.99.

My Experience
I had pretty much given up on finding a nice light foundation, but I was shopping child-free at Target which is a rare occurance so I decided to just go ahead and cruise the makeup aisles. I came up on the display for Maybelline Pure Makeup and thought it sounded like what I was looking for. I almost didn't bother though, but then I saw the price tag. Under $5! That was a no-brainer. After looking over the shades, I selected Light #5 Creamy Natural and tossed it into my cart.
The directions say to just apply with fingertips so I did just that. I squeezed a dab out onto my finger and applied. Easy. The foundation smoothed over my skin effortless and blended in with no problem. I was able to apply it to my entire face in less than a minute.
My skin looked really nice. It evened out my skin tone and did provide a perfect canvas for the rest of my makeup. I should say that I have pretty good skin overall. I don't breakout frequently and I just don't need heavy coverage. This provided that perfect light coverage. It's not sheer, just light. My skin looked evened out, but not covered up or unnatural.
I put on the rest of my makeup and was just very happy with the way I looked. The foundation had dried down to a soft powder finish, but it did not look heavy or cakey at all. It is a very natural looking foundation which is absolutely a must for me. I do wear concealer under my eyes so I use a light dusting of loose powder and it works well with this foundation.
As the day went on, my skin never felt oily or greasy. It maintained the soft powdery finish. My skin is mostly normal, but can get oily in the t-zone at certain times of the month or when I am stressed. I didn't need to reapply later in the day. It lasted very well for my day to day activities.
Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation washes off easily and did not cause me to break out. I have had no problems while wearing it.
I guess the only downside to the product is that it has no sunscreen in it. It's not a problem for me because I use a moisturizer underneath that has sunscreen in it. If you are looking for a foundation with sunscreen, then you'll have to keep looking.
Final Thoughts
This foundation is absolutely perfect for me and my skin. It suits my easygoing lifestyle as well. The coverage is light, but not sheer. It glides on easily and makes me skin look smooth. It stays on all day and gives me no problems. What more could you want? Plus it's under $5! I can not believe my search is over! I am a huge fan of Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O.
