Pros: Inexpensive, long wearings looks natural, no breakouts, covers well
Cons: May not have enough coverage for some
The Bottom Line: Cheap foundation is something I generally won't try. I am glad I tried this one. It's inexpensive but doesn't look cheap at all!

| PattyTherre's Full Review: Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with ... |
I had no reason to buy Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O. I don't have oily skin - in fact, I lean toward dry. I don't need foundation, that's for sure. And I didn't think this cheap little tube of foundation would be worth a dime.
However, Rite Aid had a buy one get one free Maybelline sale and the foundation was sitting there. Being foundation obsessed, I bought it figuring if I didn't like it, I wouldn't really be out any cash.
I like it! I really like it!
About this Foundation
Shine-Free Foundation with H2O Formulated with 50% water instead of pore-clogging oils that can cause breakouts

Packaging
Simple, simple, simple. This foundation comes in a light blue one-ounce tube with a screw off/on silver cap. The product squeezes out through a small hole in the raised tip. (Think: hand cream)
This foundation comes in 12 shades from very light to dark.
My Use
I chose Natural Ivory or, I should say, it chose me. There were only a few shades left and this one seemed best for me. I thought it might be too light for me but it actually is nearly exactly the same color as my skin.
The foundation squeezed out in a thin ribbon. I dotted it on my primed face and blended. I expected the foundation to be dry and matte but it actually felt smooth and blended very well. It wasn't shiny or shimmery but it also didn't dull my skin or make it look dry. Once it was smoothed on my face, I couldn't even tell I had foundation on. But, it had nice, even coverage and gave my face a soft, fresh canvas to apply blush and whatever else I was using that day.
As I mentioned, my skin tends to be dry. I worried that a foundation made with so much water would dry my skin out and disappear midday. It did neither. The foundation held up just fine for hours and looked very natural. My skin didn't feel dry or tight.
When it came time to remove it, my usual facial cleanser removed every trace and my skin felt fine.
I have since used this foundation several times and have not been disappointed. It's inexpensive and doesn't make huge, hyped claims but it does a very good job of being what it is - sheer to medium coverage foundation with no oils that evens skin tone and lasts for hours.
With 12 shades, most women can find one that matches their skin.
And the price! It's only around $5.00 for an ounce and that ounce goes a long, long way.
I have worn foundations that cost many, many times that amount and wasn't as impressed. This is a little gem of a foundation that isn't fancy looking or high priced but works better than many that are.
Buying Info
This foundation can be found at drugstores and mass-market stores offline and on a number of drugstore and beauty websites online. The price ranges from $5.00-$6.00 a tube.
Conclusion
Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O is a star that isn't shining as brightly as it should be. It takes a backseat to the high-end foundations but it performs as well as much pricier products.
My skin is not oily and shine is not a problem for me, yet this foundation still comes through with clean, natural coverage and no cakiness or dryness. My skin can breathe and I have no adverse affects from the foundation.
Maybe even we drier skinned women should get away from the oils and try to use more water-based products. I thought this would dull my skin but it doesn't at all. It smoothes on well and lasts all day. The only thing that may disappoint some is that it doesn't have very heavy coverage. It was fine for my skin but some may need a heavier formula.
I give this foundation 4 stars and recommend it for any skin type. If you are looking for a clean, solid foundation for a good price, you really can't beat this one. It could change how you think about water based foundations and inexpensive cosmetics. I know it changed the way I feel about them!
