| msciangula's Full Review: Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with ... |
The past six years I have been using Clinique with great coverage results...but, I have and always had a problem with whiteheads and blackheads. I have also used acne product after acne product and am now diving deeper and overthrowing my entire familiar routine. So, this is the very first different liquid foundation I have used in a long, long time.
It works! BUT...isn't there always a "but"!!...it does not provide incredible coverage. If you have any redness from acne, it will not completely mask it. It is, however, LIGHT and feels soft & smooth on your face. Light not meaning the shade of color either...it feels as if you have nothing on at all! What an incredible feeling going from a mask-like texture of the Clinique products.
Onto my next part of info...I have oily skin...I'm Italian! So, I must not only use the Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O, but I must also use a powder foundation to help get rid of the shiny look after a few hours out and about. I can't wear this stuff alone, but you might be able to depending on what type of skin you have...
Once you do apply the make-up, it does appear matte...to me. I really was impressed when I gave a final look in the mirror upon the completion of application. But, please remember to moisturize before you apply this foundation...I found putting this make-up onto drier skin caused flaking....and who wants that?!
The price is pretty good (around $5.00)...and the bottle will last for a long time, I promise! You don't need a heaping glob of this foundation to cover your face. I bought my recent Maybelline Pure Makeup Shine-Free Foundation with H2O tube at the local supermarket and I am sure it is probably located at Target and Wal-Mart.
In conclusion, the only drawback is the fact that it doesn't provide great coverage. If you don't have problem skin, this would be a perfect liquid foundation! But, if you do have some redness or other coverage needs, you may need to combine this with another product to achieve your desired results. I am actually really glad I switched to this because it feels lighter and seems to even out my skin tone. I do combine this with another product...a powder compact made by Cover Girl. So far, it is a good combo. I have been using this routine for several weeks.
GOOD LUCK!
