I have been on a never-ending quest for the perfect foundation for about 10 years now. (If you've read any of my other makeup reviews, you already know this.) I've probably tried just about everything on the market at one time or another, and I have to say that Maybelline True Illusion Makeup is one of the better foundations I've found. This may seem a little surprising given the fact that it is one of the cheaper makeups out there! The truth is, though, this stuff has a lot going for it.
Colors
True Illusion makeup comes in 15 different shades, which is pretty impressive. There's bound to be a shade for almost everyone. My skin is so pale that it's sometimes hard for me to find foundation that doesn't make me look like I've just gone swimming in mud. However, True Illusion's lightest shade, True Ivory, is a perfect match!!!
Coverage
True Illusion claims to make your skin look "flawless, yet makeup free." Well, it would take a lot to make my skin look *flawless* exactly, but it does look makeup free!! That can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your skin. When I'm having a "good skin day," this is enough coverage for me. It's very sheer and not even the tiniest bit cakey. And, importantly, it does indeed pass the bright sunlight test! However, if I'm having a "bad skin day," (a minor breakout), I prefer a little more coverage than True Illusion has to offer.
SPF
SPF is extremely important to me in a makeup. I need SPF protection, especially in the summer, and I prefer to get it from my makeup rather than slathering on greasy sunblock underneath. True Illusion has an SPF 10, so that's good.
Long-wearing
True Illusion is not an extremely long-wearing makeup, but it's acceptable. It's so lightweight that it might disappear into oily skin by the end of a work day. That's another reason why I only wear this on "good skin days!" When I wear True Illusion, it usually looks really good for about 6 hours, then it starts fading.
Cost
Maybelline's True Illusion is one of the cheaper makeups available. It's probably around $5 or $6 on average, which makes it very affordable!!!
Overall
Overall, I have to say again that True Illusion is a really-- and surprisingly-- good little makeup. Because it's so cheap, I always have a bottle of it in my makeup drawer to wear on days when I don't need or want extra coverage. It's an excellent weekend makeup... an even better summer makeup when I hate having a lot of gunk on my face!
If you're searching for a good lightweight makeup, definitely try Maybelline True Illusion before you buy anything else!!
**NOTE: On product details, I really meant to choose "sheer, natural coverage" instead of "light to medium." Unfortunately, some sort of random Epinions bug won't let me submit my opinion when I choose the correct coverage. Sorry!**
